Getting out of my comfort zone

My go to lens is my Canon EF-S 18-200mm. I hardly use any the other lenses in my bag. Maybe I am just lazy or set in my ways. After I worked through my Advanced Module for Landscape and Travel Photography I decided that I need to start using different lenses. I have to get out of my comfort zone.

Our Flower Road Trip is ideal for doing just that. So on this trip I am going to try to use all my other lenses and not my go to lens.

I have enough lenses in my bag to choose from and they are all 100% suitable for landscape and flower photography. I have used my Canon EF-S 10-18 mm macro and Canon EF 50mm lenses for flower photography before. I however have not used my kit lens, the Canon EF-S 18-55mm for flower photography before.

Today I tested it and I am very happy with the result. The other positive about this is that my camera will be lighter and easier to handle.

I will try to keep you updated on how our days went. I must just remember to take some photos with my cellphone too…. When I have my boyfriend in my hand, all other technology is non existent for me. It is just the two of us and nature…

Wish me luck and please send us some positive vibes for the week ahead.

Have a wonderful weekend.

  1. You made me realize I don’t use my 18-55mm lens much, either. Nor my 50mm lens. I just cannot get the hang of that one, for some reason. It’s either my macro or telephoto. Those two are my go-to lenses.

    1. I love my 50mm when I do weddings and portraits. I have also used it to take photos of flowers but it works best for portraits and landscapes. Also when I do concert photography it is a winner. When I did my diploma my tutor told me to start using different lenses. I tried it for I think two weeks. While taking photos in our garden. But as soon as I grab my bag my telephoto lens comes on, and I forget about the rest. For my assignment, I must produce 19 photos and they must be taken with different lenses. I am not allowed to use only my Zoom lens. I am super stoked about our trip and cannot wait. Morné also told me last night to charge my camera batteries he is taking me out tomorrow morning for breakfast.

      1. Thanks for the little nudge to start using different lenses, Coreen. I really need to do that. I am considering this your assignment to me! 📷📸
