This year I asked for a real Christmas tree. I just love the smell of pine tree in my home studio…
On Boxing day we went to Rooiels for the morning. I only took a few photo’s. To be honest I was not feeling myself at all. On Monday while cherry picking it rained and even with a raincoat on my clothes got wet and now I have a cold on my few day’s off…. If the weather plays along we will be going to Rooiels again over the weekend. Will take some more photo’s then….
I took these photo’ s a while back already. Huskies are such beautiful dogs. If one day I have my smallholding ( a girl may dream) then a Husky is on top of my list of dogs to get….
Cattle crossing roads and grazing on open patches of field in our rural and informal settlements is not uncommon.
Armand and I was on our way home after stopping by one of the farms for some mulberry leaves for the silkworms when we came across this crossing. My camera was in my bag and I had to hurry to get it out….
Yesterday we went to Rooiels for the morning. The men went out on the boat to catch some crayfish. I enjoyed the scenery.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Thank you for your support. Have a Blessed day.
Anja, my friends daughter loves the camera. I am looking forward to her first photo shoot in the near future….
By now I should know exactly how the Law of Attraction work. Ha ha ha…. Let me explain.
For a while I was dreaming of upgrading from my Canon 500D to a Canon 7D. Then one day while I was taking photo’s of my friends kids my 500D started giving problems it did not want to focus and if press the shutter button nothing happened. I switched off the camera and then it worked again for a few photo’s then the same story. At that stage I was broke and could not afford a new camera. So I kept quiet and prayed very hard before each photo shoot that my camera would not break on me. I missed a few shots but luckily I take hundreds of photo’s with each shoot. I started looking at camera prices and made a plan to upgrade. I believe that my equipment must be trusted because I am capturing other peoples memories and can not afford to miss a photo due to a camera not wanting to focus.
Then I started looking at other lenses but I am full of ….. (how can I put it in a polite way) Oh just say I want what I want and nothing else will be good enough. I love my 18-200mm lens and I looked at the pricing every now and then hoping for a bargain. After my lens went in for a service in February 2011 it was not the same. It still gave me awesome shots, but it was very grainy and not sharp at all. Thank goodness for good editing software I could fix that problem. A few weeks back I did a bridal shoot and my lens started making weird noises and I prayed that the lens would just hold till my last wedding for the season is finished. I did my three weddings and sometimes I had to put the lens on manual focus to get it to focus and then took the photo. My lens never let me down only gave me a tad more work and little stress but I still captured some awesome photo’s.
On Saturday my last wedding for 2012 my lens decided it wanted to retire and my 18-200mm lens became a 35-200mm lens and did not work on auto focus at all…. I told hubby the sad news and started thinking of ways to get a new lens or get this one fixed…
Today I went to Studio 22 to buy my new lens. The salesman at Studio 22 told me that if I tweeted a photo of my product and my invoice number for this purchase I stand a chance to win an Canon 6D….
I read the book The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and I learned that if you dream, visualize and think of something you really want you can have it. In my case it did not fall in my lap I had to buy it, but in both instances the money to buy my equipment were made available.
The Pastor at Shellvine and Nicole’s wedding had an interesting theory why the wedding ring is put on the ring finger.
Put your fingertips together. Now put your middle fingers downwards. Your thumbs represent your parents remove the two thumbs from each other. The index fingers represent your friends remove from each other. Your pinkies represent children remove from each other. By removing from each other means that you can let go of them. Your husband or wife is your number 1 now. Now try to remove your two ring fingers from each other. They won’t move. This means that with marriage you are bound together and will always be there for each other. Does not matter what you will stick to your partner…
I know now a days the people give up to soon and they let go to easy…. Allot of people go into a marriage with the back door open if it don’t work we get a divorce….
I love the fruit of the Promagrate tree. I can remember when I was small and living in my parents house we had a tree. Every year it gave us allot of fruits. I was so happy when my dad got another one and planted it at our house. My father told me that he don’t know if it will have any fruit but I was positive and just look our first fruit. Hope it gives us lots more fruits….
I was very happy to be on my way back to Cape Town. I don’t think Durban and surroundings will see me again during December I’ll rather visit in July. The humidity and storms were just one to many for me. When I saw this scene I just had to take a photo. I used my Blackberry.
On Sunday we went to Balito beach. This was the path down to the beach. I took this photo with my Blackberry.
As you know by now I went to Durban to capture my best friends wedding. I had the shock of my life when I wanted to take a photo and my camera lens fogged up within seconds. I was worried about the wedding photo’s and went online and started to Google fogged up camera lens. I came across a few forums that had the same advice. Put your camera in a Zip Lock bag and leave it outside so that the lens can adapt to the climate. I asked my friend to please take me to the nearest Spar so that I can go buy some Zip lock bags. Lucky for me they had 1 packet of large bags that I can use. When I got back to my friends house I put my camera in the bag and later I tested it and the lens did not fog up. From now on there will always be a Zip lock bag in my camera bag.
On Thursday 6 December I boarded on a Kulula.com flight to Durban. I wanted to take photo’s with my camera but the cabin crew told me I must pack away my camera. LOL that did not stop me from taking a photo. I used my Blackberry Bold to capture the clouds and wing of the plane. I know the quality is not that great but I had to capture my trip….
Hi there everyone. Well today was Johan and Marietjie’s wedding day.
Last night I bought some zip lock bags to test the advice I got on some photography Forums. It worked for me. My camera lens did not fog up at all. One is never to old to learn something new. The photo’s came out great but will only share some when I am back.
Tomorrow we are going to the beach for the day. Looking forward to it.
Thank you for stopping by.

Okay I hope someone out there will be able to give me some advice. This is the first time that I am in Durban in December since I’ve became a photographer. The humidity is very high and even the furniture in the house are very humid.
This morning I took out my camera to take some photo’s of my friends daughter but the lens fogged up before I could take my first photo. I packed away my camera immediately. Tomorrow is my friends wedding and I am starting to stress. I hope tomorrow the weather is better.
I am searching the internet for some solutions hope I get answers before the wedding tomorrow.
I will only be posting my photo’s of the day when I am back in Cape Town on the 10th of December.
Chat again tomorrow . Need to get some answers and fast…..
Can not believe how time flies. It feels like only yesterday that my best friend told me he is in love and that he is going to get married again. I was very happy for him. The last few years was quite hard on him and he was very lonely.
Today I am on flight 701 to Durban to capture his special day on Saturday 8 December 2012. I wish him and his wife to be all the best.
This is my first on location wedding. Nope that’s not true I had on location weddings in the past but this one is the first in another province. I hope this is the first of many to come.
Ooooh turbulence LOL… Yes I am writing this blog while flying. The best way to let time go by fast is to write a blog or take and edit photo’s. I get so involved in what I am doing I don’t realize how fast time is passing.
I’ve got a nice seat by the window and at the wing. Hope when I get back I’ll get a window seat again.
I won’t be posting a photo today to busy catching up.
Today I am publishing from my Blackberry.
Thank you for stopping by.

I just edited this photo and I LOVE it.
Congratulation Schellvine and Nicole on your wedding day.
The ladies at Hair and Beauty Matter really know their stuff. Here they are doing Nicole’s hair and Make up at the same time. I thought they are going to bump into each other but nothing happened they worked together like a well oiled machine.
