Good day World: 18 January 2023

Well, I made it in one peace. Byers, Texas will be my base and home for the next nine weeks and three days.

Health

I have been feeling a bit under the weather since we landed. I have a strange headache; I am unsure how to describe it. It is not so bad that I need tablets, but it is irritating. My tummy is also throwing a hissy fit since Monday morning. I am afraid to eat any strange food, so I stick to bread and Skippy Peanut Butter for now.

Website and Writing

I have not posted since our flight. But I will tell you all about my flight experience in a separate post. Next week I will be joining Christo and will try to post at least every second day.

How is the weather today?

According to the weather forecast, it is going to be a reasonably cool Winters’s day. With a minimum temperature of 11°C and a maximum temperature of 19°C, winds up to 33 km/h.

Two Days and counting…

Good day friends

Oh my word, the waiting is killing me. I know I am not supposed to wish time to pass, but I can’t help it.

I thought that it would not be so bad if we talked to each other daily via WhatsApp Videochat. But to be honest, talking to him and not being able to give him a hug or be there for him in person is more challenging than I anticipated.

I keep reminding myself that all good things come to those who wait. My life is about to go in a new direction, one I never saw coming. Everybody tells me to sit back and enjoy the journey, and that is precisely what I will do.

Four Days and counting…

Good day friends

We fly in four days, and I will see Christo again in five days. I am really missing him a lot.

I am all packed and ready to go. All that I still need to pack are the few things we need to buy for the house to take with us, but that goes in a separate suitcase.

Why do you write?

I am not a writer. Not by a long shot.

I am a photographer and have always believed my photos must tell the story.

But like everything, circumstances change, and one must adapt.

Now I am writing to improve my storytelling skills.

I find it very difficult to put my photos into words, and even more difficult to tell the story of how it happened that I took that specific photo.

Like in photography, it takes practice to get it right.

Have a Blessed day.

Spending time with my loved ones.

Spending time in nature.

What is a treasure that’s been lost?

Children can’t be children anymore.

Let me take you back to a school holiday day in the life of a teenager in the eighties.

We got up around 8:00 am, dressed, had breakfast at the table, and brushed our teeth. Then we would do our chores, and if mom was happy, we could visit our friends. But we had to be back before dinner at 6:00 pm or in the winter before it gets dark.

Our parents did not drive us to visit our friends. We got on our bicycles or walked to them. We were never thinking twice about the danger that may be lurking around the corner. We spend most of the day on the streets. We were going from one friend’s house to the next.

Our only rule was to be back before dinner or in the winter before it got dark. We had dinner at the table, and afterward, we helped mom to clean up.

At 10:00 pm, it was lights out. That was no problem because you had a hectic day on the streets.

The children today go to bed whenever they feel like it after gaming online the whole night. Maybe they will get up by 1:00 pm. Perhaps they will get dressed and brush their teeth. They eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner in front of the computer or with their cell phones.

If they want to go to a friend’s house, you must drive them, because it is not safe to walk or ride a bicycle alone anymore.

Have a Blessed day.

Love

Six Days and counting…

Good day friends

We fly in six days and in seven days, I will see Christo again. I am super excited.

Christo is also sick, and the universe saw it fit that he would not get a load this weekend. Now he can focus on recovering.

I am still panicking about my choice of clothing for this two-month holiday. Today I will unpack everything and rethink my choice of clothing.

My list of places I want to photograph is growing, but I am still working on it. I think it will increase when I am traveling with Christo.

I have been watching YouTube videos of Photographers in Texas, but they are not as informative as the UK Photographers. Maybe I am just looking at the wrong channels.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support and for taking the time to look at my posts. I am genuinely grateful for every view, like, and comment I receive.

Good day World: 7 January 2023

It is a beautiful warm morning here in Cape Town, South Africa.

Health

Last night, Zandri brought me a one-day Flu remedy. It tastes like the fireball sweets we used to eat when we were young. I must admit I was skeptical at first, but it works. I had my first shot at 11:00 pm last night and this morning around 2:30 am again. I slept straight through till Oprah woke me up around 9:00 am. According to the directions, one is supposed to drink it every two hours for the first day. I had another shot around 9:30 am, nearly time for the next one.

Website and Writing

I am so behind on my Blogaunary posts I can’t think of anything to write. I want to try to write at least three today. But that will all depend on how I feel.

Now I am focusing on working on my website. You will see that some of the categories are still empty. I am working on it, and have 11000+ posts to sort through. I am also trying to post at least every day. Some of my post’s structures are also going to change. This will be phased in over the next few weeks.

On my To-Do list for today

  • Unpack and repack suitcase🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
  • Write Blogaunary posts (4🤦‍♀️)
  • Schedule Posts
  • Work on website

How is the weather today?

According to the weather forecast, it is going to be a hot summer’s day. With a minimum temperature of 20°C and a maximum temperature of 30°C, winds up to 30 km/h.

Seven Days…

Good day friends

Feeling like crap today, but the fact that I am flying to Christo in seven days helps.
I am all packed, well I think so anyway. There is only one thing bothering me. Did I pack the right clothes?

On our video calls, Christo is wearing short sleeve T-Shirts, and he says it is warm during the day and very cold at night. I have packed as if I am going to Antarctica. I did pack two pairs of shorts and four T-Shirts. Will that be enough, or must I throw in a dress or two?

I am glad I started packing early, my suitcase weighs 18kg, and I am entitled to 23kg according to Delta Airlines. The only problem is there is no space left. I had to transfer a thick sweater, jeans, and socks to my hand luggage.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all your support and for taking the time to look at my posts. I am genuinely grateful for every view, like, and comment I receive.

I wish you all a fantastic day.

Good day World: 6 January 2023

It is a beautiful cool and windy morning here in Cape Town, South Africa.

I was busy working on my website yesterday afternoon when I started coughing out of the blue. Not long afterward, I had a headache and did not feel too good. I switched off my laptop and let Christo know I am going to lie down for a while.

Last night it got worse, I had a fever, and to top it off, we had load shedding, and I could not switch on the fan. This morning I woke up, and it felt like a train ran me over. For the next few days, I will rest, drink plenty of fluids, and take cold medicine. I am leaving in seven days and I have to be healthy.

l had to get up to fetch Miriam on the farm at 7:00 AM. She told me that on New Year’s Eve, they broke into her house and stole all of her shop supplies, the children’s school supplies, their new clothes, and the food in their cupboards. It breaks my heart to hear that. In the past, I was in a position to help her financially, but now, I can only give her some of my clothes and the food in my cupboards.

What is the earliest Memory you have?

Oh, my goodness, today you are making me dig deep.

My earliest childhood memories were when I discovered a key to our back door. Dad gave me a big bunch of keys; he was unaware there was a master key on it.

Every morning just after the sun rose, I would unlock the back door and go outside to play. My parents were perplexed because they would lock the door at night and put the key up high so I couldn’t get to it.

After a few weeks, they decided to spy on me. I would move the one stool closer to the door to reach the keyhole. I would look at my keys, choose the master key, and open the door.

That evening my parents confiscated my keys and removed the master key from the bunch. The following day I tried to open the back door and could not. My mom told me I was so angry I started crying.

Have a Blessed day.

Love

New Menu called Texas Adventures

Good day friends

At first, I thought of running two separate sites, one for my photography and one for my adventures in the USA. But I decided against it.

After much thought, I made an extra menu heading called Texas Adventures. Here I will talk about my experiences and also post some photos. Don’t worry. I will also share some pictures on my blog with a link to the Post in Texas Adventures.

If you want to join us on our travel adventures through Texas, please click on Texas Adventures in the Menu.
