Today it’s to cold outside and I don’t want to be in the wind to long. Just got over the flu and are looking forward to my holiday in two weeks time. Today I took photo’s of Ruby on her “playpen” (our bed). As you can see the covers I put over keeps getting darker…
The coat hanger she’s busy chewing she got the first day that she came to us. It was lying in the sun-room and I wanted to throw it away but when she started playing with it I let it be. She is still playing with it but now it is in two pieces inside the cover. The Crocks I gave her also the day when she came to us this was to prevent her from chewing our shoe’s. It is working very good so far only one incident when she took my husbands shoe to her bed but she did not chew on it, she chewed her Crock…
Ruby is still barking at everything and the latest is chasing the poor birds when they come to feed….
Usually I have my 50mm Lens on my Canon 500D but Sunday I decided to try my 50mm on my Canon 7D. WOW I thought I got great shot’s before with my Canon 500D but I must honestly say from now on I’ll switch lenses more often…
In the past I took my photo’s in Aperture Priority mode but the past two months I switch between Aperture Priority and Manual mode. I am getting much better in Manual mode and as soon as I am confident enough I’ll shoot mainly in Manual.
Ronald was playing fetch with Ruby. I saw the opportunity to try some action photo’s in manual mode and I am happy to say I am very happy with my results. 🙂
This week you will get a double dose of Ruby… Keep a lookout for Ruby Tuesday tomorrow. 🙂
Catherine’s dad wanted to take a photo with his phone and asked her nicely if she would mind posing for him. The whole episode played off in front of my eyes and I could not resist also capturing this special moment between father and Daughter.
I love this photo and just had to share it with you so long….
I first saw the Southern Masked Weaver building his nest on Saturday 10 August 2013. I took the above photo’s the next morning, Sunday 11 August 2013. He was making good progress until the Gale Force Wind blew his nest away….
When I went outside on Monday morning his nest was gone. I have not spotted him in our garden again…. I was so looking forward to many more photo’s….
Ruby decided that her Ball on the Rope had to be demolished. This morning she was very destructive breaking everything she could get her paws on….
I had a wedding on Saturday and due to wet socks and shoes I’ve got the flue. For once Ruby did not jump on me instead she’s licks me. I have an infection in my right eye and when I am lying down I must just close my eye because she constantly wants to lick it. I went to lie down this afternoon something totally new for Ruby she just could not understand in the end she cuddled up and lay next to me.
Because I am not feeling well and I have so much editing to do before Saturday’s Matric Farewell,I did not take allot of photo’s

Good day everyone,
Here in Cape Town it’s raining cats and dogs. Ruby loves the water pools and keep asking me to go outside. This morning she dropped her stick in a pool of water and she wanted to get it out of the water. In the end everybody was wet, myself , Tammy our miniature Dutch hound and Tekkies our miniature Sheep dog. Ruby got her stick and headed for her bed…
Over the weekend Ruby got a bit confused with the public holiday and hubby laying in later for 3 days in a row. She is used to her cuddle time every morning when hubby leaves for work. So Sunday morning she tricked him to go to the kitchen and feed her she turned around and came jumping on the bed got into her cuddle position and did not budge when hubby came back…. I love our cuddle times also she lies with her head on my arm and her paw in my hand….
Yesterday Ruby went to the Vet for her injections and to get chipped. Everything is 100% and she growing up so fast.

BE BRAVE – when you are scared.
BE HUMBLE – when you are victorious.
While taking some photo’s of the Southern Masked Weaver building it’s nest my attention was drawn to the Cape Wagtail on the ground were the pool was.
One moment it’s just walking around then suddenly it just stick it’s beak in the ground and out comes an earthworm…. How did he know it was there?
The birding community of our garden is really coming along nicely, I have spotted Speckled Pigeons, Lemon Doves,Laughing Doves, Cape Turtle Doves,Cape Wagtail, Southern Masked Weaver, Cape Sparrow, House Sparrow and Cape White – eye.
I think I must spend more time in my front garden in the mornings. An hour a day over a few weeks would make a huge difference what do you think?
WOW was the first word I utter when I saw the Southern Masked Weaver building his nest on a Palm Branch. I could not wait to get inside and take some photo’s of this process of nest building. I just hope his “wife” approves his building. Then if I am lucky hopefully I’ll have the honor of capturing some little ones….. On this weeks agenda I need to get the new members of the garden something to bath in and also something drink water out of….
Now I really need to get stuck in my garden. Yesterday my husband organised someone to take down the pool and try to tidy the garden a bit. With the pool out of the picture and the grass non existing I have to come up with a plan. I am going to redesign my garden with some ideas I got at the Aspidistra Nursery….. So looking forward to this. But first I have a very busy two months ahead of me…..
It’s been raining today so I did not take some photo’s of Ruby outside. Instead I took photo’s of her in her favorite new sleeping spot. We have a round cane chair and it is very comfortable and Ruby seems to think so also.
Tekkies our Miniature Sheepdog (That’s what the Vet said) Is a great mother to Ruby. She washes Ruby’s eyes and ears and when Ruby goes outside she goes with. Tekkies plays with Ruby and when Ruby gets out of hand like children do she growls and Ruby listens.
I hope we are getting some nice weather soon so that I can take Ruby for a walk. She has to much energy….
