Berghoff Fynbos Farm Part 10 of 10

Well it has been an absolute pleasure sharing our weekend at Berghoff Fynbos Farm with you all here on my blog.

Here’s a few more photo’s I took before heading back home…

We had a awesome time although on our way back home Mornè’s car broke. I would not recommend that you go to visit in a normal sedan. Normal cars are not made to withstand that bumpy road. Don’t get me wrong if the roads were in better condition even though it is a dirtroad I would surely visit more often. Unfortunately I do not have a 4×4 or a vehicle that can take the punch.

So to sum up the only reason at this stage that is keeping me from going back is the road. I am not afraid of dirt roads and I love driving on them but the damage and costs involved to fix your car is just too much.

The views on your way back are absolutely stunning….

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and I look forward to sharing more of my travels with you.

After our walk it was time to cool down. The kids spend the most of the day on the water in the canoe and the little boat.

Lian my youngest love to try out new things and it was no surprise when he took out the canoe and boat for a spin on the water.

It was nice and cool down by the pond.

Armand my oldest is not really physical guy. He will be found in front of his computer either playing games, watching movies or series. I was very surprised when I saw him in the boat with his brother from the house. I grabbed my camera and took some photos. Then Desiree and I walked down to the pond to have a closer look.

Desiree is not really one who likes to try new things. Armand has this power of pursuasion and after a while she was in the boat and enjoying herself. Later Lian took the rope of the boat tied it to his canoe and started pulling her to the center of the pond. Untied her and left her there so that she have to paddle back to land.

Aran my brother’s little boy is just like his dad and nephew Lian. Love taking chances and trying out something new.

The biggest kid of all, my brother took Morgan out on the water too. She did not want to get out of the boat after that….

On our walk back Lian just wanted to climb the rockformations. It was very hot and he did not have sufficient water with him. Also it is not safe to do it alone.

I continued taking photos of the beautiful landscapes, rockformations and flowers on the farm.

Lian did get to climb a rock and when he got back he told us that it was very hot near the rocks.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. Hope you are enjoying the walk on Berghoff Fynbos Farm with us.

After Breakfast we all went for a walk and I captured the most beautiful landscapes and flowers.

One thing my boys have gotten from me is they both also love nature and photography. At one point in their lives both wanted to persue a career in photography and believe me that was very flattering but I told them that they can always do photography combined with another career or as a paid hobby.

Both are persuing a career in IT and I am super proud of them.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work.

During our walk we saw a “fountain” or so we thought anyway. When we got closer and saw the pipes on the ground we figured out that our “fountain” is just a broken pipe.

That did not stop us from taking advantage of it to cool down before we start walking again.

Desiree did not want to get wet and Dad and Armand dragged her in the water. She laughed so much it did not take them long before she was soaked. We had such a laugh.

I am very glad that my boys are so close with their Grandfather and both of them reminds me alot of my Father. They love playing tricks on people and can be very naughty in a good way of course.

Rockformations is one of my weaknesses. I always try to see what it looks like. At Berghoff Fynbos Farm there was no shortage of different Rockformations…

The morning of dad’s birthday I woke up very early to capture the sunrise and to prepare his birthday breakfast.

It was so peaceful and quiet. Just before sunrise the birds started singing and flying from one protea tree to the next one. Unfortunately I could not capture them because I was busy with breakfast and had to go inside and check on the progress from time to time…

Thank you for taking the time to look at my work. Hope you enjoyed the sunrise just as much as I did.

Nothing beats a glass of gin, cranberry juice and tonic while sitting and enjoying the sounds and views before sunset….

Birds calling to one another while getting ready for bed… Even the insects are more noisy than during the day…

Then there is my dad collecting extra wood so that we can make a “geselsvuurtjie” as he calls it. Let me explain this is the fire that is made after the food is finished and we all gather around the fire and sit and talk… These are precious times that I will cherish for the rest of my life….

We visited Berghoff Fynbos Farm in December 2018 to celebrate dad’s birthday.

The road to the house was not really suitable for a sedan but we made it. When we got there the house was open and we could just walk in. I thought it was going to be very warm inside the house, but it was refreshing and cool… We sorted out the sleeping arrangements and started unpacking the car and got settled.

We then went outside to drink a cooldrink on the stoop and waited for my dad, brother and his wife and kids. They only came through a bit later.

The views however from the stoop was gorgeous and the first thing I unpacked was my camera and started clicking away…

After drinking my cooldrink I grabbed my camera and went exploring. I just could not sit still and admire the views from the stoop any longer. It was like an invisible hand pushed me to go and explore…

Now as you all know I love capturing flowers and beautiful landscapes. Berghoff Fynbos Farm surely don’t have shortage of both. The dam or pond what ever you like to call it was the focal point of most of my photo’s during the weekend and I promise you you will have seen it from different angels by the time we reach post 10 of our weekend.

I hope you enjoy my walk with me…. Oh and if you see the photo of a stick. Look closely it is not a stick… I was taking photos of a flower when the stick walked over the pathway underneath the flower. The sudden movement startled me a bit until I saw it was a stick insect.
