My Flower of the day is the Sea Pumpkin.

Good day everyone.
Hope you are all having a fantastic Tuesday.
Up to around a month ago, Ogies never went outside. She also hates her litterbox, and I have tried all kinds of sand. She is 15 years old, and for the last two years, she started doing her business anywhere but her litterbox.
Imagine my surprise when I looked through my son’s bedroom window and saw Ogies sitting outside in the sun. At first, I thought its a one-time thing. I haven’t cleaned up after her since that morning.
Every morning after she had her food, she goes outside and enjoys the sun. She only comes back inside to drink water and have a snack. Sometimes she goes to Armand’s room and sleeps on the couch or chair. In the afternoon, she will head outside again to catch the last rays of the sun.
I can’t express enough how grateful I am that she discovered the garden.
Thank you for stopping by and reading my post.
Till next time. Please stay safe and healthy

My Flower of the day is the Gardenia or as I know it Katjiepiering.
Growing up, we had a gardenia tree next to the front door. I can still smell the sweet scent of the flowers. My mother loved that tree, but it was not the best thing to have in your garden when you get hayfever.
In January, we went to Wolseley so that I can take some photos of the town. While walking, I smelled something very familiar and, there it was a Gardenia Tree.
Thank you for taking the time visiting my post.
Till next time. Stay safe and healthy.

Since Ruby’s passing and Buddy following me around the whole time, the garden is mainly unoccupied. Shadow now spends most of his days outside in the garden.
We live next to a busy street, and every time a big truck passes he’ll run inside. When we got him at six weeks, he was very skittish. If he hears a plastic bag or you put something down to hard he will run away.
Don’t think you can pick him up and calm him down. Oh no he will come to you if he wants to be picked up. I was the first one who could pick him up and cuddle with him. Every morning when Morne leaves for work, Shadow will jump on the bed and then it’s our cuddle time. He gets very upset when I also get up and start working. He will sit on the bed and miaau till I go and lie next to him for a few minutes.
Will share some more photos of Shadow at another time.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and look at my photos.
Till next time, stay safe and healthy.

Good day everyone,
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and are ready for the week.
I had trouble sleeping again last night. I think it was the excitement of all the movement on my website statistics. For the first time in years, I had more than 200 views on my site and had a look at the weeks, statistics and saw that my hard work is paying off.
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who takes the time to look at my work, like it, and leave a comment. I know I don’t always answer or approve your comments immediately, but I do get to it eventually.
Enough talk. I do not post a lot of Monochrome photos, but while lying awake, I decided why not post one on a Monday. There is such a nice ring to Monochrome Monday.
I took this photo while visiting St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands. You will see the colored version when I do my post on St Magnus Cathedral.
Thank you for taking the time to have a look at my work.
Have a lovely Monday.

The Secret
Good morning,
Last night I could not sleep. My brain was in overdrive mode. I just could not shut down and go to sleep.
Yesterday I started reading up on organic vegetable gardens and, I think that is what triggered Fauna and Flora Friday.
Over the past few years, I have captured many birds, flowers, insects, and animals. Now is the perfect time for me to start identifying them.
Some of the photos that I am going to share you may have seen in other posts, but I will try to keep those to a minimum.
I aim to broaden my knowledge of flowers, plants, trees, animals, insects, and birds. I am still learning if I am wrong, forgive me and let me know so that I can correct my mistake. I will mainly work with the books I have on my bookshelf and google.
The following information I got from my Field Guide to Wild Flowers of South Africa by John Manning
Nemesia NEMESIA, LEEUBEKKIE
“Annual or perennial herbs, Leaves opposite, variously toothed. Flowers solitary in the axils on in loose, leafy racemes, combinations of white, yellow, orange, pink or blue.
Nemesia affinis: Annual herb to 30 cm, with elliptical to lance-shaped toothed leaves, and white, blue, yellow or sometimes red flowers, with oblong upper petals, a raised, cream-coloured to yellow palate with two velvety crests, and a pointed spur, 3-5mm long; fruit as long as or slightly longer and wide. You will find them on sandy and granite slopes and flats from southern Namibia to the Eastern Cape.”
I captured these photos in the West Coast National Park on 22 August 2015.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my my work and read my blog. Please feel free to leave a comment.

Today we are going back in time to 22 August 2015 when I visited the West Coast National Park for the day. It was a beautiful sunshine day with clear views and blue skies.
I only started editing the photos a few weeks back. I have a new system when saving my photos. I name my photos with the flower name or animal name but realized that I forgot all that I have learned over the years. It’s like my brain is a blank.
In the past, my friend Jackie and I went to the West Coast National Park a lot. She is into birding, and I got to learn to love it too. I could also name a few birds then, but now I have to rely on my books and my Merlin App.
I have a few birding books on my wishlist and want to add them to my collection. I am also trying to brush up on my bird names and how to identify them.
Have a blessed Thursday.

Good day everyone.
Todays post is not going to be too long.
We left St Andrews and headed towards Dairsie. I wanted to go see Dairsie Old Parish Church and then Dairsie Castle.
After walking around at the Old Parish Church I got into the car to get the directions to Dairsie Castle. Google maps said I have arrived at my destination. The castle was next to the church.
Dairsie Castle is a restored tower house that is situated next to the River Eden. They started building the first castle on the property around 1298. The Scottish parliament was held in the castle in early 1335. The castle was rebuilt in the 16th century by the Learmonth family.
In the 17th century it was sold to John Spottiswoode (1565–1639), Archbishop of St Andrews, who built Dairsie Old Church next to the castle in 1621.
For more information on Dairsie Castle please visit their website. Today it is being rented out as a Self Catering Castle.
I asked the grounds keeper if I could take some photos of the Castle and she said it was okay I could take a quick walk around the garden.
Our next stop was Pittormie Fruit Farm. What I had in mind when I planned this stop was a big farm with fruit trees with a restaurant and farmstall. I drove past twice looking for the entrance to the farm. Dad spotted the sign when we drove past. It was a small little shop with handmade goodies. We bought some strawberries and something to drink and got back on the road to our next stop.
Our next stop was Thai Teak. I scheduled this as a tea break. When we arrived we walked around a bit and then headed inside for a lovely cup of tea.
Thank you for joining us on our Grand Tour of Scotland.
Our next stop is the beautiful Dundee.
Till next time, stay safe and healthy.
