Shadow and I spending some time outside…14 July 2021

Good day friends,

Shadow and I spend some time outside this morning. It took me a while to get him to come down from the cupboard and in the end I had to pick him up and put him on the counter.

I closed the bedroom door so that Willow don’t come and disturb us and to make extra sure I closed the sliding door in the kitchen as well.

We spend about half an hour outside. Shadow smelled and climbed onto everything. Every time a truck pass he scatters inside to the braai room. Then he will come out slowly and look around and start sniffing again. He even played and run around in the garden.

I was so happy when he started playing in the garden. Shadow kept coming back to me so that I can pet him then he was off again sniffing and running.

I made a decision today. I am going to spend an hour a day, weather permitting of course with Shadow in the garden. Willow will just have to be satisfied being locked inside for that time. I love all my four legged children and it is not fair to Shadow, he loses out on a lot of the cuddle time and I miss my boys cuddles and kisses.

Thank you for visiting with me and Shadow.

Have a fantastic week.

Shadow vs Willow Update

I love the show My Cat from Hell with Jackson Galaxy. I then decided to try out some of his tips on Shadow and Willow.

We first started with a closed door for about 2 weeks and I put food and water in the room for Shadow. I went in the room at least for 5 minutes every hour. Willow waiting outside the door.

After two weeks I put a gate in the door to keep Willow out but Shadow can roam as he pleases. I kept feeding Shadow in the room. I then removed the dry food so that he have to go to the kitchen to eat. Still giving him his wet food and water in the room.

A week ago Shadow started walking around in the house and I removed the food and water from the room. He now eats in the kitchen. He sleeps either on top of the kitchen cabinets or on his cushion in the room.

Today I opened the gate and let Willow in the room. Shadow hissed ones and then sat next to me so that I can pet him and he purred very loudly. Willow was a very good pup during the exercise. She sat on demand and I rewarded her with treats.

Shadow is much calmer and even ate one of his treats while Willow was near. His body language is also more relaxed. I will do this exercise with them for the next few days and maybe remove the gate permanently in a few weeks time.

I am very happy and grateful that we are making progress.

Shadow and Willow in the same room….

I made a short video clip to show you the progress. Please forgive the quality and the few blond moments too… I think I will do a film course as soon as I finish with my Gaelic course.

With all my heart, thank you for your ongoing support and taking the time to read my post. I am truly grateful for every view, like, follow, and comment I receive.

Shadow and Willow also thank you for your support, good wishes and compliments.

May you have a day filled with laughter and love.

Shadow VS Willow

At first Shadow was affraid of Willow. The first evening we managed to get Shadow and Willow on the couch. Both sleeping. The same last night. I was so proud of the two.

I was very surprised to see Shadow sleeping on the couch during the night, while Willow slept on the bed.

During the night something changed, this mirning Shadow had so much confidence and for the first time he hissed and growl at Willow.

Now the roles has changed. Willow is very cautious of Shadow. Shadow hiss at Willow and then Willow retreats. Shadow sit on the corners of the furniture and as soon as Willow wants to pass he hiss and growl.

I do hope they sort out their differences because both are loved. Both of them like to play and if they can just get along they will realize it.

So  we are keeping our fingers crossed.
