Photography Lesson 9: Capturing in RAW

Lizette did a photo shoot for her niece and some of the photo’s were very over exposed and others under exposed. I know from experience that in Jpg you can only correct the exposure a little bit that was when I decided that I needed to teach Lizette about RAW. Some people don’t like using RAW because you have a few extra steps of editing to do, but I love RAW and the quality of your work really takes a step up.

I took Lizette outside and Ruby and Tekkies played our models. Then I showed her the difference in quality of the photo and how to work with your RAW file.

Here are some of the photo’s I took during our lesson.

A WORD A WEEK CHALLENGE -DAWN

The Word a week this week is Dawn. For more information on this challenge please visit the blog  A word in your ear

I took the following photo’s on our road trip in June/July 2010. My parents, the boys and I hit the road for 5 weeks while my hubby was working.  We called our tour the World Cup Tour. Everybody went from province to province to follow the soccer games. We went from province to province to do some sight seeing and visiting dear friends….

Every time we went to our next destination we woke up before dawn and hit the road. We saw the sun coming up in allot of different places and each time it  was spectacular….

I took these photo’s with my Canon 500D and back then I did not shoot RAW but JPG. Since then I’ve converted and only shoot in RAW.

This girl can’t stop when I start pushing that shutter button there are no end only if all my memory cards are filled up for the day….. Looking forward in sharing my travels with you…

Project 365 Photo a day: 365/75

Today I wanted to go outdoors and take some photo’s but for 5 days now I have this terrible headache and I just could not stand the bright light.

So I decided to show you where I spend more than 12 hours a day.  When I am not out capturing some lovely family, person or our Heavenly Fathers gift to us. I’ll either sit at my desk edit all those lovely photo’s or I’ll be busy on my Facebook page, website or answering my emails.

As you can see I have two external hard drives on my desk. I take all my photo’s in RAW and as soon as I did a photo shoot I backup to one of the  hard drives. Then after I edited all the photo’s the finished products get backed up on both hard drives.  I don’t dispose of the edited photo’s but after a year I do delete the RAW files…

My Blackberry or as I would like to call it my “White berry” is always and arms length or even sometimes next to the mouse.  Sometimes I get confused and move the cellphone around only to realize I don’t have the right tool in my hand to do the job.
