Exploring South Africa town by town: Worcester and surroundings – View from a hill Part 5

Hubby and I went to Worcester one morning very early. It was freezing cold but I wanted to go and take photo’s of the town Worcester…. Well I never got to take any photo’s of the town centre and buildings but I am not complaining I got to capture some beautiful  landscape scenes and also some flowers and plants.

After we visited the Nuy Valley, Butch took us to a small private nature reserve on a hill. The views was stunning and I got to take some beautiful photo’s of the plants. The plan is to go back there in September or October and make a day out of it. There are so many plant species on that hill and I would love to try and photograph them all. For now here are the few I did photograph.

I just love Aloe’s and the orange and yellow went so well with the background.

This road is very picturistic but due to traffic we did not stop along the road. That will be a trip for another day. Worcester_8283 Worcester_8284 Worcester_8285

Renosterveld 2011

In August 2010 I was introduced to a Private Nature Reserve on one of the farms just around the corner from us. The Renosterveld  is split into many little Reserve’s on witch one is on Mooiplaas on the Bottelary Road. In 2010 I visited it 3 times. That was before I got so busy with photo shoots and editing.

I visited again in September 2011 but due to my workload never finished up editing the photo’s. I edited the photo’s as I needed one for my project My photo’s everyone’s/someone’s quotes. Today while waiting for my clients to arrive I decided to finish up the last 79 photo’s and free up some space on my hard drive.

These photo’s were still taken with my Canon EOS 500D with my EF 18-200mm 1:3.5-5:6 IS. I must be honest I still love my 500D it takes awesome photo’s but I really need to get my shutter button fixed. Sometimes it will focus when pressed halfway sometimes not. But here he was still working perfectly.

When I started editing the photo’s I had flower books all around me looking up names of the flowers and typing it in on my photo’s file name but as my workload increased I just edited. Hopefully one day I’ll have time to do the rest of my name searching. Well I have to if I want to make a book about all my flower photo’s of the Renosterveld. Maybe I must just take my photo’s to Tielman Roos of Mooiplaas and owner of the Private Nature Reserve to help me identify the photo’s. Who knows some of these beautiful flowers and plants may just be weeds…..

Here are just a few collages I compiled of the flowers that bloom in September in the Renosterveld….

One day I’ll write a proper article about the Renosterveld and share some more photo’s.

Did it go by that fast??? I’ll better make diary entry for this year. Need to visit it again in August, September and October 2013….

Project 365 Photo a day: 365/176 – Wildebeest

Clara Anna Fontein

On our Bike trip to Blaauwberg we passed Clara Anna Fontein a stone throw away from our home. Clara Anna Fontein is a Private Game Reserve.  Well on our way to Blaauwberg I saw the Wildebeest in the field I tried to get hubbies attention but it did not work. When we stopped at Blaauwberg I asked him what route he was planning to take home. He asked me if I saw something and I said yes the Wildebeest at Clara Anna Fontein.  On our way back hubby took the turn off into Clara Anna Fontein so that I could take some photo’s of the Wildebeest.

I have never been to Clara Anna Fontein but I hope to go visit there in the near future.
