Making Picture-Perfect Memories for life
Myriad memories frozen in time
It’s raining cats and dogs outside on this lazy Sunday afternoon.
I wanted to work on my website, but my boyfriend and I decided to take it easy today. Need to rest up for the busy week ahead.
After my mother’s passing and the start of my divorce proceedings I have not really been in the mood to blog and take photo’s. I had my moments when I got my spark back but then something would remind me of something that happened and I am back to square one. It was like everything was getting to much and I went into survival mode. I started focusing on myself, the boys, my dad and our home.
In the meanwhile my Canon 7D’s Dial button broke and I lost my AV and TV settings then the light sensor started giving me problems and that put extra stress on me… As soon as I move into a dark area or shady area the camera will not focus at all and when I press the shutter button nothing happend. I had to switch the camera off and on after every photo taken. When I was in bright light I had no problems… I had a few shoots over the past few months and with God’s help everything went smoothly. I learned a very big lesson that you must trust in God and ask Him to bless the shoot and to please make sure that everything works… He did not disappoint me… I am happy to say that God was looking out for me and a week ago I upgraded to my Canon 7D Mark II.
Over the next few weeks I will be posting all my work done in 2015 and hopefully I’ll be up to date soon.
Every year between 1 August and 30 September I try to visit the West Coast National Park to capture the flowers, wildlife and landscapes.

As I am posting I am trying to identify the flowers. I am using mostly books by John Manning a botanist at the SA National Biodiversity Institute in Cape Town. I am also very privileged to have him on my email list. My husband told him about my love for photographing flowers and he said if I need help identifying them I must just send him an email…. So that is what I am doing first trying to identify it with my books and then if I still can’t identify or I am not sure I’ll send him a photo. So far my track record is quite good. Only one or two that I really don’t know. If for some reason I have not identify a plant don’t worry I will come back and update the post.

As you all know by now I love capturing flowers and I have so many photo’s to share with you. I will do this over a few postings there are to much for just one post.
I love visiting Intaka Island and this time I brought my parents with.
Clanwilliam was our last stop before heading home. It was starting to get late and also the weather changed drastically. It started raining and we could not wait to get home…
Just outside Van Rhyns Dorp we stopped again for photo’s after having lunch at a little art studio. Unfortunately I was not allowed to take photo’s there.
We came across this nest with a feathered friend and her chick. I cannot say what kind of bird it is.
As we enter the Western Cape at the bottom of the Van Rhyns Pass there is a abandoned little Farm stall. Wait we are not finished yet these are the last photo’s taken around the Farm Stall…..
The most precious gift from God to me… My Mother….

As we enter the Western Cape at the bottom of the Van Rhyns Pass there is a abandoned little Farm stall. As we came down the Pass you just saw flowers and before my father could say stop I was already thinking first available safe stop I am stopping…. WOW we had a great time photographing all the plants and flowers. I totally forgot about time and after 45 minutes my mom said she thinks we better be heading home now… We tried to limit our stops to around 10 – 15 minutes but here we just could not stop capturing God’s given treasures to us…. I am so Blessed to have the opportunity to spend so much time capturing His gift to us an the best of all I can share the experience with my Mother and Father. I love them to bits.
On our way home from Nieuwoudtville to Kraaifontein. As soon as we saw a field of flowers we stopped to take some photographs of it. One cannot believe how many different wildflowers grows in a square meter. I had a field day on the way home.
Knersvlakte…

Waterfall a few kilometers outside Nieuwoudtville
It was time to hit the long road home again. Next time I am spending much more time in Nieuwoudtville there is so much to see…
My visit to Intaka Island… Just before I headed back home something told me to go back to the deck where I started that morning. This Heron was looking at something and I was hoping to catch it catching his prey. Instead something funny happened in the end… He tried to fly and his leg got caught in the weeds and he crashed into the water. He gathered himself and off he went…
