Aquinnah’s Frozen Birthday Party featuring on Website

Aquinnah’s 4th birthday party was held at Weltevreden Wine Estate. The theme of the party was Frozen. Little Aquinnah looked like a real princess in the dress her grandmother made for her. If you asked Aquinnah if she is a princess she would just roll her big brown eyes, put her arms in her side and say. ” Oh no! I am Queen Anna!” She was not really into taking photo’s and she would not pose with anyone so I had to run around and make good use of my zoom lens.Aquin1 Aquin2 Aquin17

Sunel turned 40 Featuring on Website

I met Sunel a few years back when my husband introduced us at the Varingfees.   When I got my camera in 2009 I was given the opportunity to take photo’s back stage at the Varingfees. If it were not for Sunel believing in me I would not have had the opportunity to capture allot of Artists and also be part of the team of the Varingfees and also the Sunshine Festival.

It was a great honor to capture her 40th birthday. Sunel has a heart of gold and she deserved to be treated like a queen.

The Decor was breathtaking the atmosphere were romantic and the food was outstanding. Sunel’s closets friends each gave her a broach and they pinned it on a material flower bouquet.  Something very special I think. After Sunel made her speech she sang a song for her husband and he stood up and went and sit on the floor in front of her with the kids and they listened to her. Afterwards she came and hug her family. It was such a special and tear jerking moment… Well this softy cried…

GD_2774pj323 GD_2775pj323 GD_2775pj323bwWhile I was busy editing some golf day photo’s on Sunday I came across this shot. I could not help myself had to start laughing. Hubby still tried to come up with an excuse for the poor man. Maybe he is left handed…. Then I showed him the sequence. After a while I told hubby that I better stop laughing I am only learning the game of golf now and in a few months from now it could be me….

Project 365 Photo a day: 365/140

A while back I went to a High tea in Paarl in aid of CANSA . For those of you that don’t know what CANSA stands for  The Cancer Association of South Africa. I will post the rest of the photo’s of the High Tea during the week also some more information on CANSA.

I was invited by Sunette Nieuwoudt  and like always my “boyfriend” accompanied me. I took photo’s of the tables but never edited it. I just focused on Sunette’s Table because she was my host and I am her sponsor for Mrs South Africa.

Well on Saturday I was not feeling to hot and decided to go through my older photo’s I still need to edit and delete all the photo’s I don’t want to use. I wanted to deleted this one because I did not take a photo of the whole glass.  Then I decided not delete it. What rules say you must take a photo of the whole object. So I edit it, sized it and saved it. I did however not publish it. I think I heard my bed calling….

As a sponsor of Sunette Nieuwoudt I was invited to the Gala evening of the Winelands Winter Queen 2012 Pageant.

I took my camera with for the sole purpose to take photo’s of Sunette and the winner of the pageant. I did not even take with extra batteries for my flash or camera.  All of the photo’s taken of the contestants on the evening was taken from our table. I had to delete allot of photo’s due to closed eyes, people jumping up or the official photographer blocking my view from were I sat.  So if some of the contestants are looking at these photo’s please don’t be cross with me if you were not captured. I don’t like to publish photo’s of people who’s eyes are closed and due the lighting that happened very often.

I love challenging myself and my ability to adapt to different circumstances. For the first part of the evening I still had my external flash to rely on then the batteries died….

Project 365 Photo a day: 365/119

My photo of the day for 28 July 2012 was taken at the Winelands Winter Queen Gala evening.

I was invited to this Gala evening by Sunette Nieuwoudt our own Mrs SA finalist.  I took my camera with to take some photo’s of Sunette and the winners my intention was not to take photo’s of the whole event. But by now you know me I just could not resist. I was not prepared had one memory card and did not charge any batteries.  Half way through the event my flash batteries died and I was forced to practice my photography without a flash and a tripod…..

I am very happy with the results of my photo’s. First of all I took all the photo’s from our table I did not want to inconvenience the official photographer. Second I had to zoom in at least 100mm  in low light and no support from a tripod….

But you can judge the photo of the day…. The rest will follow in a few weeks time first need to finish some other shoots photo’s first.

Just love this dress…. One of the finalist of the Winelands Winter Queen Pageant

“I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.

I breathed a song into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, who has sight so keen and strong
That it can follow the flight of song?

Long, long afterward, in an oak
I found the arrow, still unbroken;
And the song, from beginning to end,
I found again in the heart of a friend.”
Longfellow

I believe that the very purpose of life is to be happy. From the very core of our being, we desire contentment. In my own limited experience I have found that the more we care for the happiness of others, the greater is our own sense of well-being. Cultivating a close, warmhearted feeling for others automatically puts the mind at ease. It helps remove whatever fears or insecurities we may have and gives us the strength to cope with any obstacles we encounter. It is the principal source of success in life. Since we are not solely material creatures, it is a mistake to place all our hopes for happiness on external development alone. The key is to develop inner peace.” Dalai Lama

This morning Louhn and I went to the  Winelands Winter Queen High Tea in aid of CANSA.  Sunette Nieuwoudt a semi finalist in Mrs South Africa was our hostess.  All of the ladies at Sunette’s table got a goody bag and a beautiful rose.

I just love flowers and roses are one of the most romantic flowers. Well that is just my opinion…. I just love the white and dark pink  rose it’s really beautiful…

More about Sunette and the High Tea at a later stage.  But for now here’s the lovely rose I brought back home with me.
