Good day, friends,

I hope that you are all still in good health and that you are all living your best life.

So much has happened in the past two months.

My brother and his family moved into their new house. I am so happy for them and wish them many years of making happy memories in their forever home.

Poplap our parakeet passed away. He was stil talking, singing and dancing on the Sunday evening. When I got to him on Monday morning, he was lying legs in the air at the bottom of his cage. I have no idea what happened.

We had to euthanize Ogies yesterday morning. Every year she gets hay fever around August to the end of September. This year she had it bad. She just recovered and then since Friday I noticed that she did not move around much. She would go outside to soak in the sun, she stayed outside for a long time then came inside and looked for the sun on her chair in my room. Sunday, she started losing her balance and it looked like she had no control over her legs. She just falls over. By the evening we had to hold her while she was eating. Ogies is Armand’s baby. He had to make the decision to rather relief her from the discomfort she was having. I know it must have been the hardest decision he ever had to make in his life till now.

We had a wonderful 17 with Ogies and she gave us a lot of beautiful memories and tons of love. When we were sick, she would come to lie with us and help us to get better. I will never forget how she would ask me to go make a fire in the fireplace. She loved it. She will sit and stare at the dead fireplace and then I will hear her scratching against the grid. That was my q that she is cold and need the fire to keep her warm and comfortable.

Armand, got a 100% bursary to study Cyber Security. He is working very hard, but loadshedding is busy making things difficult.

In the meantime, I had Pneumonia again and was very depressed about it. I spoke to a friend and he told me to stop feeling sorry for myself. My dad would not be happy if he sees me so down and not capturing the world and living my dream. Dad was my biggest supporter and when he said that to me it hit me hard. I started thinking of all the times dad encouraged me to go out there and capture the beauty and the not so beautiful around me. I got my act together and gave myself a date to go out. Does not matter if it rains or sun is shining, I will be going out to take photos.

I started going out into the field again from 1 September 2022. I am busy working on my Parks and Reserves project. I try to go out at least two mornings a week.

The weeks that I do not go out I sit in the garden and take photos of the birds and my new plants. I will post some of my garden photos also in the near future….

I also started a new project. This project takes a lot of time. I have to do research and learn more about the subject but I enjoy it. I have had this project in mind since I started photography in 2009. The boys bought me a wildcard so that I can enter all the SANPARKS and Cape Nature Reserves for free. I also signed up at The Botanical Society as a member, now I can enter all the SANBI Botanical Gardens for free. Kistenbosch is number one on my list and now I will be going there more often and I also paid a little extra so that I can take in a guest as well.

I might as well tell you all. I am busy working on a series of books. Not your normal flower identifying book. It is going to be very detailed and, in a language, the normal man on the street will understand. I have thousands of flower photos that I took since 2009 and now it is time to get them all identified. Well, those I have not yet done anyway.

I will be dedicating this series of books to my Father, Mother, my children and all the friends who encouraged me over the years. I also have a few of my followers here on WordPress that will be mentioned.

My photography student from years ago also moved back to Cape Town and she joins me on my expeditions when she is free.

I have also decided that from January 2023 I am going to start giving one on one workshops in photography. I had a few people in the past that I helped and then of course I had Lizette who came to me once a week for a photography class. She was my first proper student and I realized then that sitting in a room trying to teach photography does not work. I then moved our classes to the field and well it worked much better.

My leg is still not properly healed and I got a knock again when Willow and Oprah came charging down the passage and bumped me out of the way.

I spent the last few weeks with my nephew Aran, my niece Morgan and Morné. In the past I have not really spent that much time with Aran and Morgan, but now that they have been living here for a few weeks I am getting to know them much better. Aran used to come visit Dad in the school holidays and Dad’s passing really hit him hard and he has become so mature.

Willow hates my brothers’ dogs and she is growling and barking at them the whole day. It is driving me a bit insane. Oprah is so cute and naughty at the same time. When Willow starts barking Oprah is looking for higher ground. That normally means on my chest or on my shoulders. She is getting big now.

Oprah took over the duties of digging up the grass, while Willow supervising from a distance…

The new medication I am on is working very well. I still get my days but that is understandable.

I hope that you are all in good health. Over the last few weeks, I have been a very busy bee.

My brother and his family are moving into the flat for a month, while they wait to move into their new house. I was busy sorting out Dad’s things and getting the flat ready for them to move in.

During all this I had a cold, two very hyper dogs making sure my house is a mess all the time. I must say that when the boys were small my house never looked like it does now. These two four legged children of mine surely know how to keep me busy.

We also have loadshedding at least 3 times a day now. We are at stage 4 at the moment and according to the App we are moving to stage 6 tonight.

From today on I will be trying to get back into posting on my blog. I have so much editing to do and I will have to use the time between loadshedding for that and do the cleaning and home tasks during loadshedding.

I hope that you are all in good health.

It has been raining since Sunday evening till this morning. Everything is wet and the house is damp due to Willow and Oprah running around on the wet grass and Willow playing in the rain. But now the sun is shining and I hope that it will help.

We took Willow and Oprah to the Vet this morning. Both girls are in good health and the doctor is pleased with them. I spoke about Willow’s aggression towards men and the Vet said that she is just protecting me. Then she saw with her own eyes how aggressive Willow gets with men entering a room with me in it.

I will try my best to edit today, but Oprah wants to cuddle the whole time. She is getting big now.

I hope that you are all in good health.

It has been raining nonstop since Sunday evening. All my water containers are filled and the tank inside started overflowing. My braai room is very wet and we won’t even talk about Oprah and Willow.

Willow loves water and every now and then I find her outside playing in the rain. Oprah hates the rain. As soon as she feels the drops on her she runs inside as if something is chasing her. I hope she will outgrow this fear of the rain.

Today I am going to start the fire in the fireplace early. Maybe I can heat up the room enough to keep the floors dry. The house is so damp now due to Willow playing outside and coming in dripping water everywhere.

I am happy to report that I did go t Sonstraal Dam yesterday. I only took 25 photos of trees…. There was smoke everywhere and well it did not really look that pretty. But the trees looked stunning and I took a few photos handheld. Next week I am going with my tripod, shutter release cable and different lenses to capture it for my portfolio.

I went to bed around 10:45pm last night and woke up this morning at 7:30am. I had a very good night’s rest and I am ready for today….

Well, it is safe to say that I did nothing on my To-Do list of yesterday 🤦🏻‍♀️.

These days this is not uncommon. I feel fantastic when I wake up around 8am. Then I do a few chores and eat breakfast and drink my medication at 9am. Then an hour or so later all my plans for the day go out of the window. I am so tired I can’t keep my eyes open. Then I go to bed and sleep for 1 to 3 hours. After my nap I have enough energy to prepare dinner and keep me awake till bed time these days, that is between 8pm and 9pm.

It seems like our Winter is warmer than Autumn this year. I do hope we get enough rain this year to refill our dams for summer.

Well, I went to bed at 11:00pm last night and I only fell asleep around 3:00am this morning.

I got up at 7:00am this morning and have a lot to do today. I must fit in some editing and start planning my photoshoots for July also.

I started with the laundry. The sweeping of the house is an endless task with Willow and Oprah. Mud paws, sticks and sand everywhere in the house….. I think they are trying to bring the outside indoors….

Well, I went to bed at 11:00pm last night and I woke up at 7:40am this morning. That is what I call a very good night’s rest. Oprah did wake me up at around 4:00am to go outside but I was too late and she did not make it outside. My bad. She woke me up at 7:40am this time we made it. She is learning really fast.

Willow and Oprah love each other a lot, and Oprah doesn’t want to go to the flat anymore with her human dad. She wants to be near Willow all the time. Willow is also very calm these days. Yes, the two of them love digging holes together, but I have made peace with it. It is only grass…..

Good morning, friends,

I only got to bed around 2:00am this morning. I binge watched Bridgeton’s and just could not stop until the last episode. I am on a stronger antidepressant from yesterday and it made me feel nauseous. I went to bed yesterday afternoon and slept a good two and a half hours. That is why I was not tired last night.

Today is the first day of Winter, and I am freezing. But I am grateful for warm clothes and the sun shining through my window. I will be sitting in the sun later reading my book and learning all about the Greatest Secret.

I hope everyone is doing great and had an awesome weekend.

I had a very busy and relaxing weekend. On Saturday, Morné and I cleaned out the one cupboard in the garage. It was raining cats and dogs on Saturday and Sunday morning. On Sunday, I took it very easy. I watched YouTube videos and traveled through Scotland and took photos in the woodlands of England.

I made a decision a while back that I won’t switch my computer on over weekends. I need to do something different on weekends, and it has been working so far. I do get myself walking to my office to go and sit in front of computer and edit, but then I get something else to do. Work in the garden, watch videos, movies, series or read a book.

Yesterday was an awesome day my friends. Lian, Zanny and I went out for the day to celebrate her birthday that was on the 25th. We wanted to do the outing on her birthday but it was raining cats and dogs.

I took my Boyfriend with just in case I felt the need to use him. And I did. On our way there when I saw all the beautiful landscapes and trees, I could feel the excitement creeping in. I must say I am very relieved I thought I lost my love for photography. But more on yesterday on a post later today.

Good morning, friends,

Yesterday I was so cold and my leg hurt a lot so I decided around 2:00pm to start warming up my room. It was nice and toasty and I enjoyed watching the flames dance. I read a few pages but got so relaxed I nearly fell asleep. Then I put on The Notebook and The Secret Dare to Dream. I love the last one and I think since I got it, I have watched it at least 20 times if not more. I never grow tired of it.

I woke up just after 5:00am this morning. I could not sleep and I decided it would be a good idea to go take a hot shower and wash my hair. I fed the birds outside, filled up Willow and Oprah’s water bowls and food bowls. Topped up Ogies dried food and gave her some wet food. I made myself a nice cup of Fennel Rooibos Tea and now I am sitting and typing my post for this morning.

I feel very grateful today. I am grateful that I am alive. I am grateful that I am feeling better. I am grateful for warm clothes. I am grateful for a roof over my head. I am grateful for the food in my cupboards and freezer. I am grateful for wonderful caring friends. I am grateful for my two wonderful boys, who support me and love me unconditionally. I am grateful for all that I have and all that I will receive in the future.

Well, I think the medicine is starting to work. I don’t just burst into tears anymore. I am trying not to worry about my blog and the fact that I hardly post here anymore. In fact, I have been off social media for a while now. I know for my business that is not the best, but I need to sort myself out first.

Yesterday, I could edit some of the photos taken of dad and my Grand Tour of Scotland without starting to cry…. I focused on all the laughs we had.

Oprah is also learning fast. We have fewer accidents inside and she also knows to sit when I give her something. Today may be more difficult because the grass is wet and she does not like wet grass….

Hope you are all well.

It is cold today. Armand and I took Oprah to the SPCA this morning for her injections and deworming. This was the longest she had been in a car and on stage she got very vocal to let us know she wants out. Shame she must have been very hungry because she is used to eating at 8:00am but today she had to wait till around 9:30am before she could eat.

I am busy training her to sit when you give her a treat. It is going very slowly, but we are getting some results.

It is cold today. I decided that on the menu for tonight is the last of the soup in the freezer. Tomorrow I will be making chicken soup, it is the boys’ favorite as well. It is also an easy and filling dinner for those days when I am not feeling like cooking at all.

Today my oldest turned 22 years old. The day he was born it also rained. Over the last 22 years I can honestly say he only brought me joy. I am blessed with two very good boys who have respect for themselves and others.

Hope you are all well. I am really sorry for my inconsistent posting over the past few months. I am getting help and I hope to do better in the future….

Well, I went for my 6 monthly checkups yesterday and a checkup on the leg. When the doctor asked me how I was doing, I burst into tears and it took me about 10 minutes before I could answer him. This was the first time that he saw me crying like that.

My blood pressure was high, Cholesterol was in range and my blood sugar was way too low. I have inflammation in my left and right leg muscles and are on anti inflammatories for the next 3 months. Because I am putting so much stress on my right leg so that the left leg can heal properly it caused inflammation…

About the outburst. Well, the doctor put me on a light anti-depressant for the next 3 months. Also have to find a new psychiatrist, mine is moving away. So, I am on a waiting list for two psychiatrists. One of my tax clients is a life coach and he told me this morning he will send me a few more names of psychiatrists that he normally refers his clients to.

Ooooh 😱 Friday the 13th…. Haha, over the past few years I have proven that on Friday the 13th I usually do some crazy stuff to empower myself…. In 2019 I enrolled in a photography course and today I have a Diploma in Photography as well as a Certificate in Landscape and Travel Photography. What will I be doing today? Well, I still have 14 hours to do it….

I don’t have any plans set out for the weekend, I think I am going to take it easy and maybe pick up my camera and take a photo or two…. Tonight, I am going to make a nice fire in my fireplace and curl up in front of it with a book and a cup or two of Hot Chocolate. Maybe my creative juices will start flowing again…

Today I am grateful for my two wonderful sons, for supporting me and comforting me, they are my pillar of strength at this moment. I am grateful for my wonderful online friends who support me even though I am not really present at this moment. I am grateful for my few true friends who really stuck by me through this difficult time. I am truly grateful for a roof over my head and food in my cupboards and freezer. Last and the most important one I am grateful to be alive and that my Heavenly Father is taking care of me and all of those dear and near me.
