When I woke up this morning it was raining. What a welcome sight, this means that the water tanks are filling up again. Our Heavenly Father are always on time.

Update on Dad

I am very happy to report that Dad is doing much better. Yesterday they called in a Dietician because Dad did not want to eat anything. She prescribed some meal replacements and Dad’s nurse said he is happy to report that Dad is finishing one after the other. Dad had some dried blood blocking his nose and that was why he could not get sufficient oxygen. Johan, Dad’s nurse told me this morning that he saw that Dad was trying to inhale but nothing happened. He then had a look and saw the blockage. He cleaned Dad’s nose and since then his breathing improved a lot.

When I visited him this morning he was sitting up and we talked the whole time. He did lose a few days and he told me they moved him last night. I asked him how do he know he was moved, he told me the clock against the wall has moved. The last he recall was bed 24 and he has been moved to bed 6 since Tuesday. I read him all his Christmas Messages and Get Well messages again. Dad is talking about all his “work” that he is missing out on and that he will have to get caught up when he gets home. He has a pink file with the weather forecasts in from 2014. Every day he makes a note in is dairy of what the weather was like that day. I will keep notes for Dad until he gets home.

The Doctor said Dad still has a long way to complete recovery, but Dad is doing great and everything is improving nicely. Today he is getting his first of 6 B12 injections.

I would like to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes for Dad. We really appreciate it. He is not out of the woods yet but we are getting there.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas weekend. I can’t really tell you anything about mine though. I was sleeping most of the time.

Well, Dad is still in hospital. According to his doctor he had a heart attack early last week. That means he either had one before we left for Beaufort West or while we were on the farm. Dad never said a word. He still keeps saying that he is couching due to the “hay fever”.

I phoned this morning and the nurse says dad is doing better. He is just coughing a lot and they are putting him on stronger antibiotics.

I wish I can go visit him but I can not even sit up straight long enough to drink a cup of coffee. Today I am drinking the last of my antibiotics. I am still coughing but not all the time. Only when I talk or move to much….

Today I am fighting very hard to keep the tears away….

I went to the doctor yesterday and he said that I either have pneumonia or covid. He send me for a proper test yesterday because according to him the rapid tests are not accurate enough. I am waiting for my results. My fever keeps playing games with me. Up and down the whole time. I am on a trip from all the medicine, so please forgive me if my sentences don’t make any sense.

Lian, my youngest took dad to his doctors appointment yesterday and then phoned me to say that the doctor said dad must be admitted immediately. He has fluids on his lungs and heart failure. He was also tested for Covid but I got his results this morning it is negative. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you…..

We will not be celebrating Christmas this year while dad is in hospital. We will do it when he gets home. I am not allowed to go see him at all and it is killing me. My dad is my biggest supporter and is always there for me, and now I can’t be there for him because I am sick in bed….

Hope everyone had a good nights rest. If you are only going to bed now or a bit later, wishing you a peaceful nights rest.

I have no idea where this tingle in my throat came from. It started Monday night when I went to bed. I ate two teaspoons of honey and lemon and it was better. Tuesday morning I was still had the tingle and I stopped at the one garage and got myself some Halls to suck on. It worked like a charm. When we got to the farm I was still feeling okay. Still coughing and very tired because I only had 2 hours of sleep and the road was very busy and the other drivers change lanes without signaling I had to be very alert all the time.

I had a slight headache so I drank two tablets and went to lie down for about 45 minutes. After my nap I felt great, no headache, just this tingling in my throat the whole time. Corrie, our host took us on a 4×4 drive showing us the farm. I just saw compositions galore, the most beautiful rocks, flowers, wildlife. I was still feeling great. I did not cough anymore I took in all the fresh Karoo air.

When we got back that is when it hit me. I had a fever, everyone are cold and I am the only one burning out. I took my temperature 41.7°C. I did not want to tell dad he would start panicking. I drank 2 another two tablets for the fever and cooled my self down to 37.7°C with a wet cloth and water under the aircon.

I was so excited to capture a proper Karoo Sunset and Sunrise. I did not even had the energy to pick up my camera.

The five hour drive home was the longest 500km in my life. All I wanted was a cool shower and something for the cough and the headache.

This morning my temperature is 37.8°C. I have a appointment for 11:00 at my doctor.

Dad has been coughing for a while now and he never makes an appointment with his doctor. So this morning I made one for him. His cough also got worst with our visit to Beaufort West.

Today is going to be another very busy day. Dad and I are going to do our last Christmas shopping, then I need to finish tonight’s lasagna I made yesterday, I have to wrap the presents, pack my bag for the week, charge camera batteries, and go fetch Lian at the airport.

I am so looking to the few days break. Dad and I are taking Armand to Beaufort West he is going to visit his girlfriend until the New Year. We will be leaving tomorrow morning at 4:00am and will return on Thursday evening.

I have scheduled posts for the days I am not here. I don’t know if I will have any reception, but if I do I will try to post a photo or two.

According to the weather forecast, we are having a very hot Summers day. With a maximum temperature of 35°C and winds up to 25.200 km/h.

I have received my marks for my assignment, 90%. The only remark my tutor gave me is to edit my photos more and make use of presets…. Well I am not a big fan of presets by other photographers, if I use it it will be what I made myself. I also like to keep my photos as close to how they looked in real life.

• Wrap Presents
• Charge batteries
• Make sure all the dried food of animals are topped up and waterbowls has fresh water.
• Pick up Lian at the airport
• Finish up Dinner
• What ever pops up that needs to be done.

According to the weather forecast, we are having a very hot Summers day. With a maximum temperature of 35°C and winds up to 25.200 km/h.

We went to the beach with Willow this morning. It was low tide. Today I got in a lot more exercise than I bargained for. I think tomorrow I won’t be able to walk. Willow and I did a few sprints down the beach. I wanted to stop because I was getting tired but Willow just went on and on… She is a very good fitness trainer and pushes my limits.

It was a beautiful morning at the beach and I am truly grateful and blessed to only live 30 km and a 35 minute drive from the beach. That is when there is no traffic.

Today was not a photography outing, but I did put my camera bag and tripod in the boot just in case I see something. After I dried Willow with her towel and gave her some water, Morné took Willow and I grabbed my camera and tripod to take a few photos of Table Mountain from the dunes. I will share these at a later date.

I tried to make a video please excuse the poor quality but it is difficult walking with Willow and hold your phone. I am thinking of getting myself a go-pro to film our outings on.

I am still waiting on my Landscape and Travel Photographer Tutor to mark my assignment. I go to my inbox every hour to see if he has marked it yet. I am super exited.

What can I say. Yesterday was a lovely cool day, I did not do much spend most of my time in the kitchen, at dad’s or outside in the garden. I had a slight headache last night when I went to bed woke up around 4:00am and it was still there. I drank two tablets and went back to bed. I woke up only around 7:30am when Willow licked me.

Morné only went to work at 8:00am today. I normally wake up when he puts my coffee on my nightstand and kiss me goodbye around 5:50am. When I woke up this morning he had already brought me my coffee and was all dressed and ready for work. He really spoils me with my coffee each morning…

Well we never got the few drops of rain yesterday. Maybe we will get it today, everything is a few days late this time of year.

Today is Dad’s 75th birthday. I spoiled him with a special breakfast of pancakes and bacon covered in syrup. Today I am also preparing a special dinner for dad. Gammon, rice, sweet potatoes, squash with corn. I am truly Blessed to still have my Dad with me. Looking forward to a year full of travel adventures with dad.

I got up at 6:00am this morning. When I went outside this morning it was a beautiful morning. After I did my rounds to see if there is new holes, I filled up the bird feeders. Willow wanted to play and she loves stripping the dead palm tree branches. When only the stem is over she wants you to throw it and then she fetch it.

I am very glad I have submitted my assignment yesterday. Today Nicky is coming to visit. Willow will be very happy when she sees her.

Like Gavin Hardcastle always say, I got up at stupid o’clock this morning to go and take the photos for my assignment. Got up at 4:30 am and left home around 5:10 am. When I do it again I will have to leave home around 4:30 am if I want to capture sunrise, but that was not on my agenda today, I just wanted the light after sunrise. I got home at 9:45 am and took 346 photos on my outing.

First I drove towards Houtbay on Victoria Road to get a nice spot to capture the Cyclists on their morning ride for my scenic route photo. The wind was very strong and I had to hold on to my tripod to make sure the wind don’t blow it over. I used my 18-55mm lens for most of the photos. Later I tried taking photos with my 70-300mm but the wind and the long lens did not work well together. I will have to look and see if I can use any of those photos.

Then I drove to Signal Hill to Capture the city for my City Viewpoint photo. The wind was not that bad on Signal Hill, but apart from a few cyclist stopping for a water break every now and then, I was all alone. After I got what I wanted I walked around for a while taking in the scenes and took some photos of the flowers, birds, Table Mountain and Lion’s Head. When I returned to the car park there was a tour bus and I took some photos of the people looking from the viewing deck.

In the new year I want to go hiking at Signal Hill and go up Lion’s head. I will go over a weekend when Morné can join me. He must just pack in a lot of patience, because it can turn out to be a very long and slow hike when I will want to stop every 3 minutes to take a photo.

Yesterday did not go according to plan, but on the positive side we did get some fresh air and a bit of exercise.

I feel better this morning. I have tried not to work this weekend. I only edit the photo of the Dad and his two children yesterday and send it too him. The rest of the day we spend outside, we had a family braai and even Willow joined us. I did keep her on her leash though. I am still not comfortable to take her off the leash when we are on dad’s side. She has a mind of her own and it is for her own safety.

According to the weather forecast, we are having another warm, windy and cloudy Summers day. With a maximum temperature of 26°C and winds up to 36 km/h. They also say we can expect a few drops of rain. But we will see about that.

I am very excited. Dad and I are taking Armand to go visit his girlfriend in Beaufort West. I am also invited to go stay on a Wildlife Sanctuary. Looking forward to this short roadtrip.

Well, yesterday I did not edit one photo. After my morning post, I read a few blogposts and then I went to dad’s and help him decorate his flat. Lunch time I made myself a sandwich, sat on the couch to eat my lunch and drink my coffee while watching a Christmas movie, then another and another.

Today I am going to edit a few photos until around 12:00 pm then it is family time. Resting a lot and trying to get in at least 5 minutes of meditating time in….

This morning, I have absolutely no energy, no appetite and don’t even feel like drinking my coffee…. I am going to take the rest of the day off. If I feel like this tomorrow morning again, I will have to go to the doctor to find out what is wrong.

Over the past few weeks it is as if my brain does not want to work. While I am talking all of the sudden I don’t know the words I want to say. I see a object but I can’t remember what it is. It is so frustrating.

I woke up in pain this morning, and I am not in the best of moods. I spend some time in the garden, but that did not work. I feel like climbing back in bed and pulling the duvet over my head and sleep the rest of the day. I am really trying to be positive, but this morning it seems my mind is not strong enough to convince me otherwise.

My brain is working overtime, I have so many plans but have no idea how I am going to make them work.

I think I will go and sit in my garden and meditate. Hopefully I will still my mind and then get some answers.
