Good day friends,
WOW what an productive morning. Got up at 3:20am left home at 3:55am. Arrived at location for sunrise photo at 5:00am. Was disappointed because it did not look as good as the first time I saw it. I then decided to drive on and see if I can find another composition…
We did not have Breakfast at Dassiesfontein because when we drove past it the sign said it only opens 8:30am. We decided to drive on and find some more compositions. Well the Overberg did not disappoint. I have never been to Greyton and when I saw the turnoff I made an impulse decision to go and have a look.
All that I can say is WOW. It is a beautiful little town with so much character and friendly people. I will need at least a day or two just to capture this small town, a week maybe if I want to capture the surroundings.
Dad and I drove through the town and stopped at Via’s Stay Eatery & Roastery for breakfast. The friendly staff made us feel right at home. I asked permission to take some photos inside the Restaurant for my Tourism photography part of the assignment.
I talked to a few locals of Greyton and asked about the town and what time of year is Greyton at its most beautiful. They told me anytime from August to mid October before the farmers start harvesting. I will definitely have to go back to capture some scenes in Autumn (March to May), I can just imagine the area in Autumn colors it must be amazing. I will also go back late Winter to mid Spring (August to mid October),then all the canola fields and wildflowers will be in bloom….
If I go on like this I will have a very busy schedule next year. Somewhere I must find the time to do some one to one workshops also….
When we left Greyton it started raining and well I have a few photos in the memory bank. Now I just need to remember….
We arrived home at 1:30pm, and I am tired. Willow will not leave my side. While I was shooting, I did think of her and picked up a few broken branches for her to play with….
According to the weather forecast, we are having another beautiful cool and windy Summers day. With a maximum temperature of 19°C and winds up to 28 km/h.
