I had a shoot at Eden on the bay with a lovely couple about a week ago. The wind was howling and I decided to put away my Canon EF 18-200mm lense and use only my Canon EF 50mm for the shoot. My reason was simply because of the wind it would be much easier to handle in the wind and I was afraid that sand will get into the lense. Normally with my outdoor shoots I use my Canon EF 18-200mm and for my studio shoots I normally use my Canon EF 50mm.

WOW what a rush opening night was. The models started getting ready from about 3 O’Clock the afternoon. Then while some was busy with hair and make up the rest walked the ramp to get the feel of it. The day was filled with laughter, talking and of course taking snapshots… I went back stage a few times to capture the buzz but space was a problem so I just took a few and then moved back to the stage area where I captured the models practicing.
The little one’s was so confident I think some of them have more confidence in their pinkie that I have some days… Oh my and when they are on that ramp they have attitude and some of them walk just like the models on Fashion TV.

After the show some of the models mingled in their tie dresses with the guests while enjoying a finger dinner. The designers posed with the guests and models and we all just had a great time…

Estrolita Petersen are one of my photography clients. I first met her when Mrs Cape Town Chantal Witthuhn introduced us and I did a portfolio shoot with her.
She phoned me 4 days prior to the opening of ZEEZ and asked if I could come and capture this special event. I did not even think twice.
What a lovely evening we had. The food was great and we all got some tips on how to do our make up in only a few steps… I do not really like make up but in the fashion and beauty industry unfortunately I must also look the part. Even though my face are behind the camera 95% of the time.

I had the pleasure to capture little Wihan at 2 weeks. He was born on 34 weeks. This little boy was wide awake in the beginning of the shoot but we got him to settle down in the end.
I had to laugh even though he was born early this little boy had very strong legs and boy oh boy he wanted them stretched out not tucked in. Later I just let him be. My motto is baby must be comfortable.

Conrad’s 3 month shoot was great. I dressed him like a little bee. He looked to cute. He started smiling when you talk to him. Love this little man to bits.

Gerda-Mari was one of the winners of the two vouchers I sponsored for the Miss Winelands Petite 2014 Pageant. This lady is so beautiful I had no problem filling up my memory cards with photo’s of her. She made the most simple outfit look absolutely fantastic…. It took us a while to get a booking that was convenient for everybody but it was surely worth the wait.
I had the pleasure to capture these beautiful ladies a few weeks back. The daughters decided to do something special and bring their mother for a photo shoot with them. We had so much fun and I enjoyed the shoot very much.
A while back I had the pleasure to capture the Correia family. We did two shoots that morning. One for the family and one of Chase the newest addition of the Correia family.
Little master Cruz had a mind of his own like most 2 year old’s have. I am just glad I did get to capture some shots of him laughing…

We are collecting ties old, new, unused, unwanted any shape and size for three designers who will then design 12 outfits each made out of these ties. I am looking forward to seeing what they came up with. These 36 outfits will then be auctioned off to raise funds for the Children of Cape Town.
Time is really flying now before we know it the big night is upon us. So far I am feeling blessed to have this opportunity to work with this wonderful team. Knowing we are playing a role in a brighter future for some of the kids of Cape Town….
The Event is going to be held at the All Star Theatre and will stretch over two days. 27 and 28 June 2014.

I can hardly believe Louis-Thomas is 6 months old. I just love capturing this blue eyed little boy. I must say one thing the Hickey kids is going to break some hearts when they are bigger.
I took my first photo’s of Ruby when she was approx 8 weeks old. I have posted photo’s every week till she was 29 weeks old.
One of these days Ruby will be one year old and I can’t believe how time flies. She is a beautiful grown dog now and still loves chewing on old crocks and sticks. She also makes us mad with her ball. She just loves playing outside with her tennis ball. Her training is coming along great and she is very obedient. But like any child she also takes chances and when she was naughty you can see it straight away. I love Ruby to bits and cannot imagine my day without her by my side or next to my desk.

One thing that I love about my job is meeting different people. Every person has his own personality and that 3 sisters can still be so close is just wonderful. I had a blast capturing these three sisters and the shoot went by in a wink of an eye.

I had the wonderful opportunity to capture the beautiful Chantal, Mrs Cape Town 2013 a few weeks back.
We had a blast and 2 hours went by in a wink of a eye. Chantal brought along her hairdresser and in the end she had help hold up the Collar of the stunning Tie Design Dress by Hein Smit. Chantal wanted it up and on that day it just did not want to stay up. It must have been the heat…

This stunning dress is one of many to come. Chantal is hosting a Fashion Show on 27/28 June 2014. All the outfits will be made out of old ties and will be auctioned off to raise funds for the children of Cape Town. I will in due course tell you more about this event. I am one of the Photographers of this event.
Time surely flies when one have a baby in your mids. I was so busy with other shoots that it took me a bit longer to post his blog. He was so adorable and slept through most of his shoot.

About a week ago I had the pleasure to capture this lovely family.
Lady Benesia (7) just love the camera had no problem getting her to pose for a photo.
Little Master Eden (5) on the other hand was a bit difficult but with my magic and my finger always on the shutter button I got some awesome shots of him. In the end he did not want to stop posing for the camera. We really underestimate the power of a lollipop….
Little Master Christopher (4 weeks) was not feeling himself but he did give us the opportunity to capture him in between tears….
Finally it happened. We did it. We had Leigh and Rupert’s engagement shoot…..
Originally they wanted a shoot at Blaauwberg with Table Mountain in the background. Every time we had an available time set up Gail force Winds ruined it for us. So we settled for another setting. We visited Paarl Mountain Nature reserve for their shoot. We made sure that we were there when the gates open.
I fell in love with the Nature Reserve and I am definitely going back for some more shoots….
The first time I met Anke she was not herself. We then decided we will have a separate shoot for her. She was full of smiles but only had eyes for her mommy….

Little Milani was born on 16 January 2014 and I had the pleasure to do a onsite newborn shoot with her. Normally I do newborn shoots in my studio were I can control the temperature and light. I prefer to capture newborns in natural light. She was sound asleep and just now and again opened her one eye to see what all the fuss is about.

Normally we take Louis-Thomas’s photo’s on or around the 15th of each month. In January we totally lost track of time and only did the shoot more than a week later.
This little blue eyed heart breaker had a mind of his own with his shoot. When we put him in his little chair he just wanted to get out. When we put him on his tummy then he’ll roll on his back and chew his fingers. When we put him on his back he rolled onto his tummy…. I had a good workout.
In the past our sessions was up to 90 minutes. From this one it will become less and I’ll have to know my story to capture him.
Christelle and I practically grew up together since I was 3 I think. I saw her fall head over hills love with Francois. I was there when they got married and started their beautiful family. My mother (a day mother at that time) took care of their 3 oldest daughters until they moved away. I saw them all pulling faces at their first bite of food,crawl, take their first steps and go off to school . So all and all this was a very special family shoot for me.

Isn’t little Conrad just to beautiful for words. I am so blessed to have this opportunity to capture his first year for you. So for the next 12 months you will see allot of him and how he is growing.
During this period I am going to try and use different props for each shoot. The little crochet hat’s I used in the Newborn shoot was made by my dear friend Jeanine.
Today is the last post of my dear friend Loühn’s baby bump. When she got pregnant she offered to be my model and build my mommy to be portfolio. Can not believe that on Monday 27 January 2014 little Conrad will be born. We had so much fun with our shoots. The last one had to be the highlight of them all. About half an hour before Loühn came for her shoot the power went out… So we had to shoot with natural light. Not ideal for that time of the evening. The light is all wrong but we did it and with allot of laughs to.
I would just like to thank Loühn for being such a great friend and giving me the pleasure to capture her growing baby bump.

On the 2nd of January 2014 I had the honor to capture the Otto Family in my home studio.
Mommy Michelle was so excited about the shoot they tried to learn little 21 month old Mienke to say smile and then she smiled… But when it came to the push little Mienke did not smile at all we tried everything she just did not want to work along. While mommy was interacting with Mienke I saw she relaxed a bit and I told mom to keep going I took a range of photo’s of little Mienke while mommy and daddy distracted her. I had to crop and clone out mommies hand in all Mienke’s individual photo’s but at least I got some great shots.
Looking forward to our outdoor shoot later the month. Gonna put on my running shoes and camouflage clothing so that Little Mienke don’t spot me….

I had the pleasure of meeting little Master Aiden a while back. He was not entirely himself according to his mommy. When we started out with his shoot he kept on touching and holding his right ear. Later he started crying and it took some time before he was calm again. I have got many tricks in my hat and in the end of the day Bubbles did the trick…

On 28 December I had the privilege to capture the Willemse Family with their new addition Little Miss Anke.
Anke was not feeling very well and in the end we did not get photo’s of her alone. We did manage to get one or two photo’s with the other members of the family before she started crying… Looking forward to capturing little Anke within the next few weeks.

Claire and Fernando got married on 30 November 2013. What a beautiful and very windy day it was. Claire got dressed at the Greens Lodge. Wow what a lovely setting this was. But due to running out of time the photo options here was very little.. I did take some photo’s of the bride outside but the wind made it very difficult and blew her hair and Veil all over the place.
We then had to go all the way to Sandrift for the ceremony. The Father kept the ceremony sweet and short and it was over in a flash. We took a few photo’s of the kids and then we went to Parow Golf Club where the reception was held.
All though the wind was howling we did go down to the golf course to take some photo’s at one stage the wind and sun was so bad that we headed back to the reception. I was not very happy with what we got on the golf course so later the evening when the light was much softer I called Claire and Fernando for a few extra photo’s….
I wish Claire and Fernando all the best for their future together as husband and wife. May their love grow stronger and stronger as time goes by.

Maritsa won one of the vouchers I sponsored for the Mrs Cape Town Pageant. She was 2nd Princess and are Beautiful inside and out. I only met her for the first time on 7 December but she is a really fun person to work with.
Her photo’s came out stunning and I have to thank my Co-Sponsor Sunette Olivier of Something Beautiful for doing an amazing job as usual with hair and make-up. I love working with Sunette she really knows her stuff and I never have to worry about touching up when she did the make up. I have just uploaded some photo’s of Little Louis-Thomas’s 3 month shoot… This little man is growing very fast and I am looking forward to seeing him next month again.
This morning I took some portrait photo’s of Ruby with my Canon 50mm lens. Reason for this the camera is lighter and it is less strain on my right hand.
When my schedule is more open I’ll go for a operation to fix the problem.
I got this one by holding Ruby’s ball rust next to my lens.
The second one was more tricky to get. She kept jumping up and losing the grip on the ball. But we got one. So proud her.
