West Coast National Park: Seeberg Birdhide.

As we entered the park from the Langebaan entrance our first stop is the Seeberg Birdhide.

Over the past few years visiting the park one notice the change in scenery. I love walking on the walkway and capturing my surroundings.

But that day we were not able to leisurely strole down the wooden walkway as always. It started raining. We were very happy about the rain though. Our dams in the Western Cape was at a critical low before the winter and we needed every drop of water we could get.

From a photographers point of view. A cloudy day always makes beautiful photos and the light is perfect. Only down side was the flowers did not open until it was a bit warmer…. But I still had the beautiful landscapes…..

I hope you enjoyed your walk with us. Our next stop will be The Seeberg lookout…..

One Lovely Blog Award – My First Blog Award Nomination!!!

Today 17 September 2012 Picture Perfect Memories for Life received a nomination for  One Lovely Blog Award from Rebecca aka Clanmother/ChasingArt. ChasingArt  is relatively new to the blog scene  she launched her blog 1 May 2012.  Rebecca aka ChasingArt I am honored and accept this nomination.

I believe there are a three rules  in accepting the One Lovely Blog Award.

1) Give credit to the awesome person who nominated you.

Rebecca aka Clanmother/ChasingArt thank you very much for this nomination. WOW!!! I feel so honored. Words can not describe how happy I am  right now. I feel like jumping out of my own skin….

2) Describe 7 things about you.

  • I posted my first blog article on 14 May 2012 on WordPress. In the beginning blogging for me was just to share my photo’s with everyone but I did not really get noticed and I did not post everyday. I started posting on a daily basis from 1 April 2012 when I launched my Project 365 photo a day challenge. Since then I started getting very active. A week ago I decided to start participating in some of the challenges here on WordPress and I am loving every second of it.
  • I am a  mother of two very busy boys. Armand my oldest 12 and Lian 11. I love them both to bits and they support my photography career 105%.My husband Ronald is my pillar of strength. He supports me 200% and I could not ask for a better promoter than him.  He is always dishing out business cards and telling people about me. It’s tuff being the new kid on the block.
  • I was a full time Tax Practitioner  until November 2009 now I do Tax only part time. My husband bought me my first decent camera(Canon EOS 500D) beginning June 2009.  I did my first wedding from the sideline in October 2009 and my first official Wedding in December 2009.  With the help of my very dear friend Jackie During ( also started out as a bookkeeping client) my website Coreen Kuhn Photography was launched 24 January 2010. If it were not for Jackie I would never even considered changing my career. Thank you Jackie you are a friend in a million.
  • I love everything in life that is beautiful.  I have a soft spot for children, the elderly and the sick. I love helping others and will give my last meal to someone who really needs it. In short I am a softy.
  • I hate being alone for too long. I’ll rather surround me with the ones I love. Yes a break from everyone once in a while is great just me and my camera but I draw the line at two days.
  • My favorite quote is from Walt Disney. “If you can dream it, you can do it.” I believe in this with my whole heart because I AM LIVING MY DREAM!
  • My goal in life is to become a well known SELF TAUGHT PHOTOGRAPHER. I know I can do it and with my Heavenly Father, family, friends and my blogging community backing  and encouraging me all the time I cannot fail.

3)  Nominate 15 Bloggers.

Holy moly this is going to be difficult. I love so many blogs so many that inspires me to do even better…

Why do I do it to myself?

Jeezz Loueezzzz why is signing up for something so complicated. Okay not everyone feels like this it’s only me thinking out loud this morning.

I started out with Facebook in 2008 and it took me more than a year to get the hang of it.  Then they started this timeline thing and it took me  a while to get the hang of it.

I signed up for Twitter in 2010 and the same thing it took me nearly a year just to figure out how to post a photo. But I think I’ve got Twitter covered now.

I started blogging in 2009 on Blogger and changed over to WordPress in 2011.  It also took me while to figure out how get all the funny gadgets and stuff on my page. Still don’t really know all there is to know about WordPress but I’ll get there eventually.  As long as I can tell a story now and then and of course post photo’s I am happy. I only realized a short while back that if I want other bloggers to know about me I must introduce myself by liking and commenting on their work.  LOL do you know that Blogging and keeping up with everybody can be considered a full time unpaid  job.

I keep seeing this Pinterest sign  on other bloggers pages and my curiosity got the better of me this morning. So I had a look and what did I do?  Hold and behold I signed up for that tooo…. LOL now I am trying to figure out how this Pinterest works . I just signed up and I am already following 58 people. Goodness how did that happen….

Good news for me  I figured out how t0 upload photo’s and that I think is the main thing. The rest I will figure out along the way. Now my question is how do my blogger friends see my work on Pinterest?  Oh well I believe all my questions will be answered as I go along.

So why do I do it?

I love a challenge. I love sharing my work with others. I love to hear my work is great . Then believe it or not I love hearing what I can do to improve my quality of work. Then last but not the least I love getting to know other interesting people and maybe one day have the pleasure in meeting some of them.

THAT IS WHY I DO IT…

World Cup Fever running high

During the 2010 Soccer World Cup held here in South Africa my hubby sent me and the boys on our own World Cup Tour.  Together with my parents we visited  allot of little towns. These photo’s was taken on the first part of our tour. We were away from home for 5 weeks and I never took less than 500 photo’s a day. Some days I took over 1500 photo’s. Add that all up and you get to many to count haha. I am still busy editing my World Cup Tour photo’s as I have a spare minute here and there.

When I am finished with all the photo’s and gathered all my notes and pamphlets  I want to start writing a series of blogs on the different towns and places we visited on our tour. Luckily my memory is very good and as I go through my photo’s I can remember to the T what happened. That is the best part of capturing your holidays with thousands and thousands of photo’s…

Sunday Post: Morning

This will be the first time that I will join in on Jakesprinter’s  Sunday Post challenge.

Mornings are the most peaceful time of the day. What better way than to be woken up by the singing of birds at your window with dawn breaking…

Even when it is cold and raining there is nothing more beautiful than the different colours in the sky as dawn breaks. I took the following photo’s Easter Weekend one morning while Hubby, my friend and my youngest went for a jog. Haha jogging not for me.  I’ll rather walk and exercise my finger on the shutter button.

Jogging not my kind of exercise…

The following photo’s I took one morning at Alpine Heath in the Drakensberg during our holiday there in July 2012. What a lovely sight it was. I was clicking away did not want to miss a second of the lovely dawn breaking….

This one I took when I woke up through our bedroom window.

Project 365 Photo a day: 365/91

Due to the lack of internet connection I could not post my photo of the day as I wished. We had a lovely time at Alpine Heath.

My photo of the day for 30 June 2012 is of our friends that stay in Benoni. We had a quick family shoot at a dam a few kilometres from their house. As soon as I edit all the photo’s I will post some more photo’s.

Project 365 Photo a day: 365/80

What a day. I Got a phone call this morning from Marcellino Martin one of the DJ’s at our local Radio Station Bok Radio. He informed me that he was going to phone me on his show at 13h40. Picture Perfect Memories for Life was chosen for today’s program. I was so excited till the news settled in and I got extremely nervous.

A few weeks back Lino as we all know him said that he want to talk about blogging and that all the bloggers out there must please email their blogs link to him. Well at first I thought about it then decided nope mine will never be chosen but the whole time a little voice asked me Coreen what do you have to loose? So yes I emailed my link to Lino but did not expect to get chosen…

I could not wait to tell Ronald the news and I phoned him immediately. I was very excited and was jumping up and down like a little girl that got a biiiig present.  As I told everybody that was close to me and support my business then reality started to settle in. I am going to talk on radio and I have no idea what to say or what to expect. What if I say something silly? Oh my I was a nervous wreck. But I closed my eyes thanked God for this wonderful opportunity and that He must please help me to say the right things.

I hate it when someone uh or um and my biggest fear was that I am going to  uh or um.  You see I’ll rather express myself here on my blog or on my twitter and Face Book status and of course  through my photo’s. I am not a big talker especially not over the radio where thousands of people will hear me….

When Lino phoned me he told me that he will ask me a few questions after the adverts and I waited for the adverts to finish. LOL I can’t remember a thing about the interview the moment were just to big.  Afterwards I went to my mom and dad who was listening and my first question to them was did I uh or um. They said not even once and that I sounded great and one could hear that photography is my passion. All that I can say is I did it….

So today’s photo of the day is… Yes you guessed correct. A RADIO.

“How many times in our life have we been afraid to tackle a tough job or project, believing that we just didn’t have enough talent or brains or guts to succeed, and then once we have forced ourselves to try – and successfully completed the challenge – we look back at what we have done, finally realizing that our greatest enemy, the one who urges us not even to try because we would certainly fail, was none other than ourselves.” Mandino, Og, Secrets for Success and Happiness
