Myriad memories frozen in time

This morning I had the pleasure to take photo’s of Daniël De Kock’s Breakfast at Rusticana Hospitality Estate. Here is Daniël protecting the youngest little guest’s ears from the loud noise of the speakers. I must say I had a different photo in mind for my photo of the day but, when I saw this scene I changed my mind. I just love this photo….
One day I got a message from Reyvan’s mom saying she wished I was in Johannesburg. I then told her that I was going to the Drakensberg in KwaZulu Natal in the June/July School holidays. Well all worked out great we extended our holiday with a week and went to Gauteng before heading to Alpine Heath in the Drakensberg in KwaZulu Natal.
Reyvan was turning two and had his party at Spaanyard just outside Johannesburg. As you can see I took little Reyvan’s birthday photo’s and it was allot of fun and was just great to see my old clients again.
For the following few days I’ll focus on the Pospech photo shoot.
This morning around 2 o’clock I edited a few random photo’s while I was busy with Reyvan’s Thank You DVD’s. So glad my computer can handle writing DVD’s while I edit.
Because I always set my camera on high speed when I have a photo shoot I take up to 5 photo’s when I press down my shutter button. I do this to ensure that I get at least one photo with open eyes especially when there are more than one person in a photo.
I had 2 of this specific photo I could use and Coreen Kuhn do not waist a photo I use it… So I played with my Saturation, Clarity and Vibrance settings…
I just love how this one came out.
Let me introduce Lenie. Lenie is older than me. When I was small, okay not that I am much bigger now, I loved Lenie. So my grandmother also Lenie told me that someday I could have her. Grandmother gave Lenie baths and changed her clothes regularly.
I speak under correction but if I remember correctly my grandfather won Lenie for my grandmother in a lucky draw…. Will come back to you.
When I prepare for my baby photography shoots at my home studio Lenie must play the part of the baby…. The other night my son told me I am to old to play with a doll.
Lenie is not just a doll she reminds me of my Grandmother who always told me to follow my dreams and heart. This must sound a bit silly but for me Lenie is part of my grandmother and with her in my studio my grandmother is also present…
I will from now on show off my new props on Lenie…. I think she loves being in the spotlight…
Every now and then Aran will come and visit me for a hour or two. I totally forgot to post these photo’s of his visit in December 2011.
As you will see he really enjoyed his visit playing with the props and posing for the camera… I can’t believe that next month he’ll be turning two years old. Time really don’t wait for nobody.
Today I had a very busy day. This morning I had a photo shoot at my home studio with the Kruger Family and later I had a on site photo shoot at the Pospech Family.
Both shoots was lots of fun but my Favorite photo of the day was of little Miss Chloë (4 months). My first photo of the shoot was a winner.Just look at that smile…
Lian took his first photo’s when he was only 3 years old. We were not like other parents that forbid their children to touch their camera because it can break…. We just showed them how to hold it properly and told them not to run and off they went.
Both our boys loved taking photo’s and we had to time them so that both of them get equal time with the camera. I asked hubby to go through all our archive cd’s to find Lian’s first photo’s that he took. Lian love taking photo’s of animals and people and Armand on the other hand loved taking photo’s of objects and still do.Here’s a few collages.
About a year back Lian told me that one day he is going to take over the photography business here and then I can travel the world and take photo’s. This morning he told me he is starting his own photography business. He even got his own business name Lian Kunh se fotografie. LOL I had to laugh but he misspelled his surname. Well who am I to say it’s wrong it’s his business name. All he needs is business cards I was told . He also told me that when I have photo shoots he must go with because he must practice to take perfect photo’s. Then I must teach him how to edit his own photo’s. Oh yes something else, I must pay him because he must save up for his own camera.
I just smiled. Lian is a fast learner and I think if it lasts he will be a great photographer one day. He is only 10 and he will still change his mind a thousand times. But for the time being he wants to be a photographer so I will support him and teach him what he needs to know.
Who knows in 10 years time Lian might be by my side and if we are lucky Armand who also has a very good eye for composition will join us. For now Armand wants to design weapons and I will support him all the way. . .
By now you should all know Aran. Aran is my brothers little boy and he is the face of my business. I started photographing him when he was still inside Kathleen’s tummy. He is so use to the camera that when I take it out he already start to pull faces and laughing.
But this time he was not so willing to smile at me and I think the reason is the big flash on top of the camera. At one stage he came walking up to the camera and looked into the lens he then turned around and walked away. Only when he faced the camera again and pulled a face and gave me a sly smile.
I needed to figure out what the correct settings for flash photography with my 7D and new flash. I still need allot of practice to get the sweet spots on my new camera and flash. My aim is by the end of my 365 photo a day project I will have the camera all figured out.
Here are some of the photo’s I took of Aran while he was helping grandpa to clean the driveway.
