Hallo Poplap: 19 July 2021

Good day everyone,

You will see that the Hallo… Post has changed a bit. I am going to give all the pets a chance. Charlie had enough for now. Today it is Poplap’s turn. Because they are confined most of the photo’s looks the same. I am trying to mix it up a bit to keep it interesting.

I would like you to meet Poplap, our Eastern Rosella. He is a very feisty little guy. He loves dancing and starts singing and making noises when he hears me or my son.

These photos of Poplap was taken on 9 June 2021.

Thank you for visiting.

Have a fantastic week.

Willow’s first visit to Sonstraaldam: 17 July 2021

I promised Willow yesterday that we would go for a walk this morning. I am not sure if Willow can understand me, but I think she remembered my promise to her.

At first I just wanted to walk around the neighborhood but then I decided against it. I got her leash and car keys. Normally she runs around and make a game of putting on her training collar and leash, not this morning she came and sat in front of me and her tail was sweeping the floor of excitement.

I drove to Sonstraaldam a place where I love to take photos. This morning it was just me, Willow and my cellphone. Willow first needs to get familiar with the places I like to take photos. This will mean that we will visit there a few times before I take my camera with. I am going to be honest it is hell not to have my camera there, and I see all these amazing shots I miss. But I think it is also important that Willow learn and get exposed to all the new scents and sounds.

The dam will be there tomorrow and I will get amazing shots then.

Willow sniffed and ran and pulled and sniffed the whole time. We went around the dam twice. The first time was so that she can sniff and smell everything. The second time was much more relaxed although she still sniffed a lot she did not pull as much.

I was very surprised that she did not run after the geese. She did want to chase the Guineafowl. But I pulled her back and told her not to. I will never get in a bird shot again if I teach her to chase the birds.

We also socialized with a French poodle and a big White Swiss Shephard. Willow enjoyed this and I wish we are at a stage where I can take of her leash too so that she can go play. We will get there I know and I know it will take some time.

Shadow and I spending some time outside…14 July 2021

Good day friends,

Shadow and I spend some time outside this morning. It took me a while to get him to come down from the cupboard and in the end I had to pick him up and put him on the counter.

I closed the bedroom door so that Willow don’t come and disturb us and to make extra sure I closed the sliding door in the kitchen as well.

We spend about half an hour outside. Shadow smelled and climbed onto everything. Every time a truck pass he scatters inside to the braai room. Then he will come out slowly and look around and start sniffing again. He even played and run around in the garden.

I was so happy when he started playing in the garden. Shadow kept coming back to me so that I can pet him then he was off again sniffing and running.

I made a decision today. I am going to spend an hour a day, weather permitting of course with Shadow in the garden. Willow will just have to be satisfied being locked inside for that time. I love all my four legged children and it is not fair to Shadow, he loses out on a lot of the cuddle time and I miss my boys cuddles and kisses.

Thank you for visiting with me and Shadow.

Have a fantastic week.

Willows first Majik forest outing: 11 July 2021

Today we went for a quick outing to Majik Forest. This was the first time that we took Willow to a park. I usually walk down not to busy streets in and around our neighborhood.

At first we thought it was going to be a very looooong walk. Willow sniffed at everything. Stop dead in her tracks change direction and then she is off again. The terrain was very muddy and slippery. While walking I thought to myself maybe I chose the wrong park to come and walk with her. But sadly there’s not many pet friendly parks around us. So we have to drive to get to one.

Willow also had the opportunity to socialize with two Bull dogs. Their owner saw I was in a panic when Willow charged to them. He then told me they are use to other dogs and that I can let them get to know each other for a few minutes. I felt at ease immediately and Willow and the two doggy friends sniffed and played for a short while.

I think I have this hidden fear in me about other dogs that will hurt Willow. It happened with Ruby and after her first bite from a small dog she became very aggressive towards other dogs passing us. The only place we could go for walks was at the beach. I don’t want to go through that again.

We thought Willow would be very tired after her outing. She only slept and recharged her batteries on the drive home. She is her active self at the moment.

Thank you for stopping by. Have lovely Sunday.

Willow Shenanigans: 9 July 2021

Good day everybody,

Willow have been a very good girl this week. I think she realizes that we do have our play times and the rest of the time she is sleeping either on the bed or next to the bed on a blanket.

The Braai Room is off limits to her on days it is raining a lot. She puts her front paws and face into the buckets and then she blows bubbles. When she comes inside everything is wet… I must replace the roof of the Braai Room but I must first save up enough money to buy all the materials needed to do it.

Thank you for visiting with me and Willow.
