Willow took me for a walk this morning…

This morning Willow did not want to get up. But when I took my buff she was of the bed tail wagging. She knew something was going to happen.

When I took the car keys and her leash she did not run around like two days ago. I think she learned her lesson if she don’t sit so that I can put her leash on she stays home and I go out without her. This morning she came and sit infront of me so that I could put on her leash.

She ran to the car and when I opened the door she was inside.

It was a beautiful morning and we encounter a few dog walkers this morning. Willow took me for a walk this morning. My arm is still sore from the vaccination yesterday. Later Willow slowed down, and we both enjoyed a casual walk the second time around the dam.

Willow’s first visit to Sonstraaldam: 17 July 2021

I promised Willow yesterday that we would go for a walk this morning. I am not sure if Willow can understand me, but I think she remembered my promise to her.

At first I just wanted to walk around the neighborhood but then I decided against it. I got her leash and car keys. Normally she runs around and make a game of putting on her training collar and leash, not this morning she came and sat in front of me and her tail was sweeping the floor of excitement.

I drove to Sonstraaldam a place where I love to take photos. This morning it was just me, Willow and my cellphone. Willow first needs to get familiar with the places I like to take photos. This will mean that we will visit there a few times before I take my camera with. I am going to be honest it is hell not to have my camera there, and I see all these amazing shots I miss. But I think it is also important that Willow learn and get exposed to all the new scents and sounds.

The dam will be there tomorrow and I will get amazing shots then.

Willow sniffed and ran and pulled and sniffed the whole time. We went around the dam twice. The first time was so that she can sniff and smell everything. The second time was much more relaxed although she still sniffed a lot she did not pull as much.

I was very surprised that she did not run after the geese. She did want to chase the Guineafowl. But I pulled her back and told her not to. I will never get in a bird shot again if I teach her to chase the birds.

We also socialized with a French poodle and a big White Swiss Shephard. Willow enjoyed this and I wish we are at a stage where I can take of her leash too so that she can go play. We will get there I know and I know it will take some time.

Morning Greetings: 13 July 2021

Good morning friends,

Hope you are all doing great. I would like to thank each and every one who takes the time to read my posts and give it some love.

It is freezing cold and the rain is coming down hard. Yesterday I had to go through the garage and through my dad’s front gate to get to his place. The yard was flooded.

Both the weather Apps I refer to says that we will only have light showers around 10:00am today, but it has been raining hard since I woke up 6:00am. A maximum temperature of 12°C is predicted for today. 🥶

I took out the trash just now. It is really cold outside. I don’t know if it is only my imagination but it is the first time that I just can’t get warm. I have on layer on layer and I am still freezing.

They predicted snow and this year I would like to capture it. So today I am doing my planning for my snow landscape photo for one of my assignment photos.

On my To-Do List for today:

  • Edit
  • Do research for assignment
  • 2 hours Gaelic lessons
  • Prepare dinner

Have a fabulous day friends. Make memories and live like there is no tomorrow….

Morning Greetings: 5 July 2021

Good morning everybody,

Hope you all had a good nights rest. Today we slept in. Morné is going to work later today. I had a very busy morning so far. I decided to rather finish up my home chores before I sit down in front of my computer. Now I can edit, write posts and schedule some of this weeks posts.

Tomorrow and Wednesday I am doing my clients Income tax returns. I will not be spending that much time on my blog.

According to the weather forecast we are having a lovely day. A maximum temperature of 16°C is predicted. There is not a cloud in sight. It is a sin to spend the day in front of my computer. I will try to spend some time outside in the sun with Willow. Maybe even go for a walk later.

On my To-Do List for today:

  • Laundry ✔
  • Sweep floors✔
  • Edit
  • Schedule posts
  • Train Willow.
  • Gaelic Lesson 2 hours
  • Prepare dinner

With all my heart, thank you for your ongoing support and taking the time to read my post. I am truly grateful for every view, like, follow, and comment I receive.

May you have a day filled with laughter and love.

Morning Greetings: 29 June 2021

Good morning everybody,

Hope you all had a good nights rest. I slept like a log. Only woke up for the first time just after 6:00am. Got back into bed and slept till Willow came to cuddle at 7:20am.

I got out of bed, got dressed, took the trash out and then started putting the soup in containers for freezing. Gave the 4 legged children food and water and then started on the dishes and washed the Slow cooker for the next round of soup for freezing. Today I am cooking Beef, Samp and Bean soup. Dad loves it. So far I made Chicken and Vegetable Soup on Saturday, Beef Soup and Vegetable Soup on Sunday and Yesterday I made Four in One Soup. We freeze it for dad for lunch.

It is freezing cold and everything is wet. I love the winter but with Willow it is very difficult. She loves water and to keep her dry is a full time job. I have to lock her indoors now and only take her outside under supervision. The floors look like we had a mud storm inside…. In the beginning I had the mop in hand constantly. Now I just leave it and clean it up with the broom when it gets dry. It is much easier and not so messy.

According to the weather forecast we are having very very cold, wet and windy day.. A maximum temperature of 13°C is predicted.

Wet Wet Wet
Wet outside

The passage where Willow and I play ball got flooded yesterday. It is still wet this morning. Making it unsafe for Willow to run because it is very slippery. We tried it and she slipped and hit the gate hard. Now I have to get something else to keep her busy….

Wet passage making playing fetch difficult. It is slippery…

  • Edit

  • Keep Willow busy
  • Work on Shadow and Willow reintroducing them.
  • Gaelic Lesson 1 hour
  • Prepare dinner

Shadow vs Willow Update

I love the show My Cat from Hell with Jackson Galaxy. I then decided to try out some of his tips on Shadow and Willow.

We first started with a closed door for about 2 weeks and I put food and water in the room for Shadow. I went in the room at least for 5 minutes every hour. Willow waiting outside the door.

After two weeks I put a gate in the door to keep Willow out but Shadow can roam as he pleases. I kept feeding Shadow in the room. I then removed the dry food so that he have to go to the kitchen to eat. Still giving him his wet food and water in the room.

A week ago Shadow started walking around in the house and I removed the food and water from the room. He now eats in the kitchen. He sleeps either on top of the kitchen cabinets or on his cushion in the room.

Today I opened the gate and let Willow in the room. Shadow hissed ones and then sat next to me so that I can pet him and he purred very loudly. Willow was a very good pup during the exercise. She sat on demand and I rewarded her with treats.

Shadow is much calmer and even ate one of his treats while Willow was near. His body language is also more relaxed. I will do this exercise with them for the next few days and maybe remove the gate permanently in a few weeks time.

I am very happy and grateful that we are making progress.

Shadow and Willow in the same room….

I made a short video clip to show you the progress. Please forgive the quality and the few blond moments too… I think I will do a film course as soon as I finish with my Gaelic course.

With all my heart, thank you for your ongoing support and taking the time to read my post. I am truly grateful for every view, like, follow, and comment I receive.

Shadow and Willow also thank you for your support, good wishes and compliments.

May you have a day filled with laughter and love.
