Grand Tour of Scotland: Day 11: 22 August 2019 ~Exploring Isle of Skye ~Portree #53

Views from Orchard House, Portree

Dad and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard House. Our hosts, Lance and Emma, made us feel welcome and at home, from the minute we walked through the front door.

The large, comfortable, family-run bed & breakfast is tucked away up a hill in a quiet, peaceful location on the outskirts of Portree, the capital of the Isle of Skye. Just a short 1km walk into the town center, Orchard House is the perfect base to get out and about and explore this unique island.

There are three spacious guest bedrooms, all with ensuite bath or shower rooms, and a choice of a delicious full-cooked Scottish breakfast or a lighter continental breakfast served each morning in our sunshine-filled breakfast room. Believe me when I say the breakfast was out of the world.

In the breakfast room, they even have cutlery and dinner plates for you if you decide to buy takeaways to eat later. You can heat your food in the microwave, which greatly helps.

PS. I am saving up for upcoming Landscape Photography Trips to Scotland and Namibia and a few road trips in the USA, including Route 66 and The historic Apache Trail. Also on my list are National Parks and Botanical gardens in South Africa, the UK, and the USA.

The most important photography trip for me is to return to Scotland. I am honoring my promise to my Father to return and capture the beautiful landscapes and the elusive Puffins.  Your help to make these trips a reality would be much appreciated in today’s economy.
