Good day friends,

I hope you all had a good night’s rest. I did not sleep too well last night; my brain is working overtime.

This morning I went outside before sunrise. Yes, you read correctly, it is a cool morning and I had to put my gown on.

I have a busy day ahead and we have an unwanted guest back in our lives. Yes, Loadshedding is back in all its glory. We have been fortunate enough to be spared over the last two days, but today we are not that lucky. He is visiting us from 10:00 to 12:30. Fortunately for me, I have enough work to do that doesn’t require any electricity. All I have to do is swop around my morning routine. Not a big deal, just the inconvenience of having to switch off my computer before the time and waiting at least 10 minutes after the power is back on before I switch it on again.

Normally I would take Willow out for a walk, but with Dad not strong enough yet that is out of the question. On that note. Dad is doing better every day. He is giving me a hard time though. He refuses to even drink 500ml of water a day. The doctors told me he must drink at least 1 liter of clean water daily. Today I am refusing to give him any coffee or tea he must drink at least one glass before breakfast and one before teatime. The same goes for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. If not no coffee or tea for him. It may sound cruel, but his urine is really smelly and is beginning to get darker. I don’t want him back in hospital again. How does the saying go? “You have to be cruel to be kind” or something like that.

According to the weather forecast, we are having a beautiful summer day. With a maximum temperature of 27°C and winds up to 31 km/h.

• Prepare dinner
