    1. Lois, it is difficult to explain. I always loved the photos taken in Scotland and when my dad asked one evening if I can go to any place in the world I did not even think I just said Scotland. My dad then told me okay book us two tickets to Scotland. His only request was that I must include the Royal Military Tattoo in our trip. I did some research and came across Nordic and I booked us a self-drive tour. Nordic took care of accommodation, transport, ferry bookings. I only had to concentrate on the route and places we wanted to go see. When we landed in Edinburgh and I stepped off the plane I felt like I have finally come home. The whole trip I had no problem understanding the people when they spoke to me. Dad struggled he did not understand a word. To be honest I did not want to leave and come back to South Africa. I’ll even sweep streets if I have to, it is a good workout anyway… Don’t get me wrong I love South Africa and we have beautiful scenery here too. The big difference is, here I don’t feel at ease I don’t even feel at home and I am always looking over my shoulder.

      1. Oh, Coreen–reading this gave me goosebumps. Yes, I can see why you like Scotland. I hope you do get there. My fingers are crossed for you!
